We’re constantly updating our Last Night’s Look gallery with all the best red-carpet moments (gorgeous dresses! dazzling accessories! sky-high heels!). Now, let’s talk beauty. Each week, we’ll be highlighting one of the most gorgeous makeup and/or hair moments, along with details on how to recreate the look — straight from the makeup artist or hairstylist — in our feature, Look of the Week.

We’ve come to know Lauren Conrad for her whimsical style and classic beauty looks (yes, we’re referring to that cat eye!), and for her the launch of her ninth (!) book, Lauren Conrad Celebrate, a party-planning, tip-filled manual, the star opted for her tried-and-true makeup move: her signature feline flick and statement lip. For more on the look, we’ve got all of the details from her makeup artist of nine years, Amy Nadine!

“I wanted something vibrant that popped while still being classic and clean,” Nadine tells PeopleStyle of the star’s makeup move for the book launch event. “Maybe a little nod to Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and New York City.”

This, of course, meant the star’s favorite flick was on the agenda, which, Nadine says, Conrad tends to do on her own.

“Lauren has become a pro at doing her own liquid liner and loves the creative expression of doing it herself,” Nadine says. “She loves the way it changes the shape of her eye by elongating it and making it look more almond shaped. It also really opens the eye and lifts it, so it’s a triple win.”

To get the look, the makeup created a base for the winged-liner moment by applying the Mineral (off-white) shade from her own Amy Nadine Renewing Nudes Palette all over the eye lid and crease to “awaken the eye,” and then drew on the lined look using Mark. Get in Line Waterproof Liquid Liner in Black.

To amp up the volume in Conrad’s lashes, Nadine applied a few coats of CoverGirl Plumpify BlastPro by Lashblast Mascara and placed on a few lash clusters by Picky in Flirty to “add fullness in the most natural way possible.”

As for Conrad’s springtime lip looks, which typically don’t veer far from pink or classic red, says Nadine, the makeup pro opted for a “happy color that highlighted her warm smile” — a creamy pale pink shade.

“It’s really fun for me to change up her lip color,” Nadine tells PeopleStyle. “She doesn’t love the way eye shadow looks on her but a red lip can completely change her look from a nude lip.”

She adds: “I know her comfort zone and where the perimeters are (she doesn’t want a smoky eye or an overdrawn lip liner or the lashes to compete with the winged liner, for example),” Nadine explains, “but I can get her to rock a vamp lip!”

For Conrad’s daytime poppy pout, which Nadine describes as “a fruit punch situation,” the makeup pro used Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Lost Cherry with Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Carina earlier in the day, but then switched to Chanel Rouge Allure Intense Long-Wear Lip Colour in Extatique for “something a little more manageable” during the book-signing.

“Lauren was really happy with it,” Nadine tells PeopleStyle, “and even happier with how well it held up through signing over 700 books for her fans!”
