The actress and designer are encouraging people to register as bone marrow donors this spring

Leighton Meester‘s latest endeavor would make Blair Waldorf proud: the actress and designer Vera Wang teamed up with DKMS, the world’s largest bone marrow donor center, to encourage people to register as donors by getting swabbed through the “Share the Love” campaign.

In conjunction with the donor drive, shoppers who make a $78 Vera Wang Lovestruck fragrance purchase at Macy’s will receive a T-shirt promoting the cause.

Meester, the face of Lovestruck, also partnered with 19-year-old blood cancer survivor Kerri Mullen to create a public service announcement on behalf of DKMS (see some behind-the-scenes footage below). Mullen, a New Jersey native, was diagnosed with leukemia in March 2008, but was saved by a bone marrow donor; now, she’s happily off at college, majoring in liberal arts.
