The pop star spoke with Radio Disney about the one thing in her closet she could never part with
Lady Gaga is undoubtedly one of the biggest fashion risk-takers currently walking the red carpet. Though she’s evolved from her days of decapitated Kermit dresses and arriving in giant eggs, she hasn’t abandoned her love of a vertiginous heelless platform and has recently developed a new style uniform in the form of an array of hot pants and t-shirts cropped so as to leave plenty of underboob fully exposed. But while the pop star’s looks while out in public may be pretty wild, Gaga admitted in a recent interview that her favorite piece is actually something very traditional and close to her heart, her mother’s wedding gown.
The Joanne singer recently stopped by Radio Disney to answer a handful of important questions about herself, such as her favorite dance move (a hip gyration with lots of finger guns and head bobbing) and her all-time favorite Super Bowl performance, Michael Jackson, naturally. She revealed that when it comes to karaoke the music icon is just like us, opting for go-to classics like Ace of Base’s “I Saw the Sign” and anything Spice Girls. She was also asked about her favorite fashion accessory, which you would think would be her three pairs of Alexander McQueen armadillo heels that former fiancé Taylor Kinney purchased for her at auction considering she keeps them under glass dome display cases, however, it’s actually something much more sentimental.
Gaga told Radio Disney, “If I could have one fashion accessory for the rest of my life, I know it sounds silly, but I think it would be my mom’s wedding dress because it would be comfortable but it would also have the memory of my mom in it, which would be great.”
As any Little Monster could tell you, this is the very same dress the singer wore in her 2011 music video “You and I,” which she previously admitted to having coveted since she was 13-years-old. The singer told MTV at the time of the video’s release that she wanted to use the Norma Kamali-designed gown because it embodies, “the love that my mother and father have shared for over 30 years,” and that’s, “what I hope to have someday.” So if you ever wondered what out-of-this-world creation Gaga would wear on her wedding day, look no further.
