Lady Gaga’s recent red carpet gowns have been classic, timeless and the epitome of Old Hollywood (see here, here and here), so we knew it was only a matter of time before the typically unpredictable style star shook up her look again. And what better time to go all out Gaga than the Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology-themed Met Gala red carpet?

Teaming a sparkly purple rubber Atelier Versace halter bra, matching high-waisted corset shorts and a studded gunmetal jacket with Wolford fishnet stockings and sky-high platforms, the performer told reporters on the carpet that she “feels comfortable” in her outfit.
The star’s grunge-meets-glam beauty look (consisting of a rock-n-roll red lip and teased, bouffant-style hairdo) and accessories help elevate her style to Gaga-level outrageous (which we haven’t seen from her since she channeled David Bowie at the Grammys in February).

Although Katy Perry predicted Gaga would arrive in a drone (she recently told PeopleStyle: “I’m going to do something, but I’m sure like Gaga is going to arrive on drone, and I’ll just be like, ‘Grrr! Again! S—!.'”), she still shocked fans just as much by reverting to her out of this world style ways.
And as for those dangerously high heels, she’s had plenty of practice that will come in handy maneuvering the massive Met staircase — she walked in over 6-inch platforms at the Marc Jacobs fashion show back in February — and totally killed it, of course.
