Is This the $4 Million Ring That Was Stolen from Kim Kardashian's Paris Hotel Room?
The star was reportedly robbed of $10 million in jewelry at her Paris hotel, including what might be her new engagement ring from Kanye
Kim Kardashian’s stylish tour of Paris Fashion Week came to a horrifying end after she was held at gunpoint and robbed of $10 million in jewels at her hotel room early Monday morning. While the thieves remain at large, Kim is now on a flight back home to be reunited with Kanye West, who stopped in the middle of a Queens, New York concert when he heard the news of his wife. And according to reports, the $4 million “second” engagement ring from Kanye gave Kim is one of the pieces she will not be returning to the Calabasas with.
Kim had been showing off her new bling on social media this week, after first debuting it at the MTV Video Music Awards last month.
“Kanye surprised her with a new ring. Kim couldn’t believe it. It’s even more stunning than her engagement ring if that’s possible,” a source told PEOPLE at the time.
The ring is reported to be close to 20-carats, an upgrade from the 15-carat Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring Kanye famously proposed with at San Francisco’s AT&T Park in 2013.
The robbery took place at about 3 a.m. local time Monday when five men in ski masks and police jackets arrived at the No Address Hotel in Paris where Kim was staying demanding to be taken to her room, according to Reuters.
Two men entered Kim’s room, bound her hands and feet with tape then locked her in the bathroom before stealing a jewelry box worth $6.7 million in jewelry and a ring worth $4 million, police sources told La Parisien. Along with the jewelry, her purse, two cell phones and 1,000 euros were also taken from her room.
Leading up to the hotel invasion, Kim had been doing the rounds at Paris Fashion Week Sunday, taking her social media fans along with her on Snapchat and Instagram. She started the day makeup-free at the Balenciaga show, followed by a front row cameo at Givenchy where she cheered on her sister Kendall who took the catwalk for the first time in Paris. Then she joined Kourtney at a dinner hosted by designer Azzedine Alaïa.
Further details on the robbery and the assailants are still pending.
