It’s been three weeks since Kim Kardashian West‘s harrowing Paris robbery — and although she remains radio silent on social media, she has just resumed filming Keeping Up With the Kardashians and recently stepped out in public for the first time. But it’s not the glam Kim we’re used to — and according to an insider, her new low-key look might be here to stay.

“Things are slowly getting back to a new normal,” a source close to the star tells PEOPLE. “She is definitely acting like a new Kim though. She wears both minimal make-up and jewelry. The new Kim seems less flashy. It’s like she doesn’t need that now to be happy. She actually looks much better with less make-up. She is naturally pretty and doesn’t need make-up, or jewelry.”

And that’s exactly what we saw when she wore a white sweatshirt and slides to grab ice cream with BFF Johnathan Cheban, and a low-key t-shirt to attend one of Kanye West’s performances — both times leaving the house without a stitch of makeup.

But it’s not a first for the star. Just before her incident in Paris, Kim began toning down her look — attending the Balenciaga show bare-faced, a decision her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic tells PeopleStyle came gradually.

“We’ve been doing cleaner looks in the past month,” he said of her look. “I’m not sure why the switch happened, it’s just refreshing and something different. I thought it was time.”
