Kim Kardashian loves nothing more than the challenge of making an impossible trend her new go-to aesthetic. At this point, a fully sheer ensemble is basically her pajamas, nude bodysuits are her outfit de rigueur, and if her Thursday night dining companion, Larsa Pippen, is any indication, the reality star has inexplicably, successfully made bicycle shorts happen. So what sartorial obstacle could Kim possibly tackle next that would offer up the requisite level of difficulty she craves? Well, she may have just found it with her latest outfit that incorporates a touch of waist-training into her every day style, for a look we’ve gone ahead and termed advanced lampshading.

The 35-year-old went out to dinner at Katsuya in Brentwood with her friend Larsa Pippen on Thursday night, proving she’s her husband’s best advertisement in a super oversized black The Life of Pablo t-shirt that she appears to have worn without pants. Turning a tee into a dress, also known as the art of lampshading, is something her two youngest sisters, Kendall and Kylie, have already perfected, regularly sizing up their tops in order to ditch the bottom half. But never one to be outdone, Kim took things up a few notches with her own look, adding a belt on top of her long-sleeve Yeezy T-shirt that looks like a hybrid between a harness, a bustier, suspenders, and her much beloved waist trainer, all finished off with a pair of strappy heels.

Having those extreme proportions comes with a price, and apparently that price is committing to a life of never not finding a way to cinch your midsection. Though we’ve questioned Kim and some of her more dubious wardrobe choices in the past, after witnessing first hand the uncanny prescient powers of the businesswoman to make impossible trends à la mode, we begrudgingly have to admit she might be on to something with this lace-up harness. But personally, we’re going to wait for Kim to single-handedly revive hoop skirts before we make her our go-to trend guru.
