Keira Knightley stuns in Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino in new fashion spread

We love Keira Knightley for a lot of reasons. She recycled her wedding dress. (Seriously, bold move.) She hates trying on things in dressing rooms, and she always turns in out on the red carpet. In a new fashion feature for the online magazine, The Edit, by Net-a-Porter, Knightley shares some candid insight on her laid-back lifestyle while posing in some of the most beautiful designs we’ve seen in a long time.

For the shoot, the actress dons high-fashion — and super-luxe — labels including Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Erdem. But when she wasn’t posing in the chilly British countryside, she opened up about Hollywood double standards.

“The people who make movies, whether it’s directors or producers, or money people, look for things that they can identify with and if they’re all predominantly middle-aged white men, then what you see are things that middle-aged white men can identify with,” she shared on navigating the gender balance in Hollywood. “And you don’t get anything for anybody else.”

And that passion for equality is just as strong in her personal life. “A friend of mine just had a daughter. It’s a political thing, having a baby girl, in a way that it isn’t for a boy. You think, ‘Oh isn’t this fairy-tale lovely?’ Then suddenly you worry, ‘What am I planting with that? I don’t want her to be waiting around for a man to fix her problems. Maybe it’s a bit silly, but because equality is going so hugely the other way, I think it probably does take being silly to try and swing it back around.”

Although the actress typically takes on more dramatic roles in the films, she leads a much quieter, laid-back life at home. She told The Edit that a typical birthday celebration for her includes “bowling, karaoke and lots of cupcakes.” We couldn’t agree more.
