The singer is definitely having a cape moment.

Did you have a nostalgic feeling when looking at Katy Perry’s velvet bordeaux Naeem Khan ensemble that she wore to Tuesday’s UNICEF Snowflake Ball? We did too. And we finally figured out why.

The fashion risk-taker also wore a floor-skimming cape-and-gown combo to last year’s Snowflake Ball by the same designer. The 2012 theme was midnight blue, and PEOPLE readers were not a big fan of the look, which nabbed only a 26 percent approval rating.

And turns out, readers are feeling pretty similar about last night’s wine colored look, which currently has a 79 percent “Leave It” rating. Apparently, StyleWatchers aren’t having nearly as big of a cape moment as Perry is.

Last month she stepped out in a tropical-printed wrap. And there’s still plenty of time for her to rock another cape before the year is out. Perhaps a glittery one for New Year’s Eve? Or a Mrs. Claus-inspired one for Christmas day?

We totally appreciate Perry’s out-of-the-box choices (and think this whole look is over-the-top and awesome) but generally, we like her best a bit more casual and natural (like her look on John Mayer’s new song cover). What about you? Are you a fan of her cape collection?
