The singer shies away from comparisons to Gaga -- at least fashion-wise

British pop star Jessie J has a certified hit with “Domino,” a new gig on the U.K. version of The Voice and a very distinct sense of style. She also has some pretty cool nails.

“I get them done every few weeks,” she tells PEOPLE. “I have a girl [Jenny Longworth] who does them. She also does Rihanna‘s. She is the only girl I know that does acrylics that don’t break in a few days.”

And though the star has gained fame for her nail art and her out-there looks, she doesn’t necessarily enjoy the comparisons her fashion choices invite. “I think Gaga is amazing and she has definitely put herself in a separate lane,” she says. “There are only so many people that can arrive at an awards ceremony in an egg, and I don’t think that I can pull that off at all. I think that styling is important but I don’t want it to be definitive of who I am.”

Still, she has nothing but praise for her fellow star. “I think Gaga does a great job of being there for her fans and I think that is what makes us similar,” she continues. “The things she creates are wonderful.”
