We’ve been admiring Jessica Alba‘s good jeans for a while now … so much so, that PEOPLE StyleWatch just named her our first-ever Denim Style Setter of the Year.

In the October Denim Awards issue of StyleWatch, on newsstands now, the actress and Honest Company founder dishes on her genius jean style, favorite trends and looks husband Cash Warren loves.

“I have too many [jeans],” she says with a laugh (though we know she has at least 22 pairs, because they’re featured in our October issue!). “I’ll do swaps with my friends where we’ll borrow from each other. It’s fun to see your clothes on someone else and it’s better than always buying something new.”

Wearing them well is easy, too, she says, when you’re feeling confident. “You can wear them baggy or tight, in bright colors or simple blue,” she shares. “It really just comes down to who’s inside them.”

Alba, who says she sports denim at least half the week, tells us she’s looking forward to wearing slouchy boyfriend jeans this year. “There’s a slimmer version of the boyfriend that you can wear out at night with heels but also during the day,” she explains. “It’s relaxed but can be really chic.”

But high-waisted jeans are the kind that really get her husband’s attention. “He’ll say ‘Oooh babe. That looks really nice!'” she says. “It feels good when the husband notices.”
