Growing up, Jennifer Hudson was quite the do-it-yourselfer. “I would cut up my clothes and design them to what I thought it should be,” she tells PEOPLE, “because I feel like clothes are more your expression of you, and how you feel.”

As a singer, the star “likes to find ways” to express herself — “I have a love of fashion like I have a love of music,” she says — and now, she’s doing it doubly with the impending launch of her eponymous clothing line for QVC.

“I want to see everyone in my things,” she says. “That’s the dream. I had everyone in mind — nobody exempt, no size exempt.”

The collection includes sexy ruched lace-back dresses, cozy coats, simple day dresses, a sheer maxi skirt and some serious leggings. “The leggings I am loving,” she says.

The most expensive piece is $170, making the line pretty affordable — but it does have some high-fashion inspiration. “Definitely Michael Kors, Rick Owens, Givenchy,” Hudson shares. “Rick Owens because his things are so comfortable but they’re so fashionable at the same time. And then Michael Kors because he’s focused more on … the real woman, and every curve.”

So with all these cute pieces to choose from — the dress above among them — which look is the star’s favorite? “I love all the pieces,” she says, “because they’re mine!” Mark your calendar: Hudson will debut the line live on QVC on Monday, Sept. 10.
