"I wish sunscreen had been beaten into my brain," she says

Jennifer Aniston has every pricey beauty product at her fingertips, but she isn’t going to be the one to talk you into a 17-step beauty routine. “I’ve always been in the habit of washing my face. It’s actually a kind of way of winding down at nighttime,” she adds. But the key, Aniston explains, is simplicity. “The simpler it is, the easier it is to sort of abide by. The more complicated it is, the more bells and whistles that come with a skin care regimen, it just gets overwhelming and you give up,” she says. “That’s why this line is so easy because it’s just a few steps.”

The line in question? Aveeno’s “Absolutely Ageless” collection — after all, she’s the spokesperson.

“It’s incredible,” Aniston, 47, says of the line, which includes a daily moisturizer, cleanser, eye cream, serum, moisturizer and night cream. “Obviously it’s all about the health of your skin and with the ingredients in this new product, it doesn’t just give your skin that younger glow, that younger looking skin, it’s about how it feels. It just feels healthy and supple.”

A big fan of serums herself, Aniston says she was “thrilled” that Aveeno added the Intensive Renewal Serum to the collection, which combines blackberry leaf extract and dill to help improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. “The daily moisturizer also has an SPF of 30, which is fabulous as well as reducing our fine lines,” she adds.

Fine lines that Aniston says could have been reduced with a little smart sun. “Honestly, I wish sunscreen had been beaten into my brain,” says the actress, who now keeps sunscreen in her handbag and car.

And she has other beauty mistakes she regrets: “I was also seduced by the smell of a shampoo and I never even put any thought into what was in it or what the ingredients were or how it would affect my hair and the health of my hair long-term,” adds the actress, who is a co-owner of Living Proof hair care. “I think it’s the same thing with our skin. It’s more about understanding what the ingredients are and how it’s made, is it animal tested or not. I think I’m just more conscious now about what I use.”

If she could only use one product, Aniston says she’d take moisturizer, admitting she diligently puts lotion on her face and body each morning and night. “I know. I know! I do the whole thing. But you get it down fast, you got to just get it done,” she says. “Get a good couple of pumps in your hands and then do both your arms and your tummy and a couple more pumps and both your legs and you’re done. Not even a minute.”

The actress says she’s appreciative of the perspective she’s gained and realizes it’s a preventive effort now. “It all just starts to go south,” she says, laughing. “If you start to think something doesn’t matter, it will reveal itself eventually.”

But now Aniston is much less concerned about “what other people think,” she adds. “Yeah, as long as you feel good and you are taking care of you, that’s all that matters.
