Jane the Virgin's Azie Tesfai Takes Us Inside Her Beauty Routine (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

Actress Azie Tesfai spends a lot of time in the makeup chair for her role as Nadine Hansan on the hit CW TV show, Jane the Virgin, which, she says, can wreak serious havoc on her skin. But according to the star, it’s also where she’s learned to truly take care of her complexion, thanks to tips and tricks from the show’s key makeup artist, Shauna Giesbrecht.

“This year in particular, I have had to really pay attention to my skin,” Tesfai tells PeopleStyle. “I’ve been traveling a lot and was filming almost every single day last year, so not only [did I have to pay attention] to my skincare routine, but also to the makeup I put on my face during long days.”

She adds: “I credit [Giesbrecht] for most of my new tips. When you have scenes where you are running through mud, shooting on the beach (while it’s raining) or have a steamy hook-up scene, she’s really shown me the best products — from moisturizers to body bronzers to lip stains — that have now become my staples. If you can feel comfortable shooting at night in the freezing cold rain or [during] an awkward love scene, then those are must-haves products for life!”

Tesfai’s savior products, including Make Beauty’s Silk Cream Lipstick, Josie Maran Argan Oil Black Mascara and Red Flower Arctic Berry Cloud Milk Cream, are just a few of the core products in her regimen that help her achieve her signature bohemian beauty look, and now, she’s spilling all about her must-haves in a new collaboration with Vainité.com.

“I’ve spent a lot of time and money trying loads of different products with various promises,” Tesfai tells PeopleStyle on her decision to team up with brand-new beauty retailer, Vainité. “So, when I find stuff that actually delivers, I want to share these gems!”

Which is why Tesfai was also so excited to give PeopleStyle a behind-the-scenes look at her beauty routine, highlighting one of her favorite, multi-use products she takes everywhere (and giving us a mini application tutorial!): Josie Maran’s Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil.

“A lot of my beauty routine is all about skincare and natural products,” she explains. “I don’t like to put super-heavy or toxic things on my skin. So if I can get my skin care essentials, like Argan oil-infused [products], into my beauty makeup routine, I’m all for it. The easier and less time-consuming, the better.”
