Contrary to what Gleeks may think, Jane Lynch doesn’t always rock Sue Sylvester’s sizable collection of track suits. The comedian prefers more fashionable clothes — though labels don’t always offer much for her lanky 6-foot figure.

Many Americans (who aren’t sample-size models) run into trouble finding the perfect fit. So this month, O Magazine is highlighting how stars of all shapes and sizes (including Melissa Rauch, Yvette Nicole Brown and Maria Menounos) dress themselves — and they’re sharing tips on how you can achieve your best look, too. In the magazine’s May issue, Lynch discusses how she finds outfits perfect for her body type.

“Darts are always too high, and the knee is never where it’s supposed to be,” Lynch says. “If I find something that fits, it’s usually a designer’s mistake, and I can never get it again.” Her secret? Stocking up on menswear-inspired items, like Gap’s extra-long jeans and bootcut Elie Tahari pants.

And when she wants to add even more height, Lynch steps into black suede Miu Miu pumps with 2 1/2-inch heels. “I know this sounds so lesbian,” the gay comedian jokes, “but I like a sturdy heel.”
