It’s no secret that Jane Fonda loves a good jumpsuit — and can rock them better than women one-third her age (it may be hard to tell from the photo below, but she’s 77 years old). But even with her illustrious history of (and advanced degree in) jumpsuit wearing, her pick for Sunday’s Hollywood Film Awards was major.
Fonda selected an all-white look from Balmain that consisted of a white collared blouse with a criss-cross bodice that exposed a mesh camisole (and a glimpse of her abs), plus high-waist ruffled and tiered pants. Sparkling Vhernier earrings, a Paula Cademartori clutch and champagne heels completed the look, which was worn by Doutzen Kroes on the runway.
She’s displayed slivers of skin on the red carpet several times in recent memory — including at Cannes, in a body-hugging blue gown with cutouts. And, according to her stylist, Fonda’s very conscious of her killer figure, as well as how best to show it off. “There’s something very strong and powerful about really knowing your own style and sticking with it,” Tanya Gill told PeopleStyle earlier this year.
Fonda is also very aware of her presence on the red carpet and her new role as a fashion icon (even if it makes her laugh). “I think it’s a hoot that, at my age, people are calling me a fashion icon,” the star told W Magazine earlier this year. “I realized I didn’t have a lot of time left, and I wanted to pay more attention … I had a vision: I wanted to give a cultural face to older women.”
No word on whether she wants to give them the cultural abs, as well, but we’d say this jumpsuit speaks for itself.
