Jada Pinkett Smith's Girls Trip Press Tour Stylist Breaks Down Her Show-Stopping Looks
Jada has been on the Hollywood scene for so long and has had so many different looks, that Roach wanted to focus on high-shine glamour when working with her. "What's fun with what I’ve done with Jada is this whole story of metallic, starting with the Alexandre Vauthier gold sequin gown and then we went into the gold Sophie Theallet dress [following slide]."
"I see her like this bronze golden goddess and I’ve been playing with that on the red carpet," Roach says of his choice to dress her in metallics. "I think other people always looked at Jada as this strong woman and to me gold and metallic represent armor in a way so I’m always playing with her story when I dress my girl."
SILVER SCREEN QUEEN
Case in point? The head-to-toe silver monochromatic ensemble that she wore to celebrate her cover of Haute Living featuring a silver tank, straight leg trousers and pointy-toe pumps.
Out of all her looks, Roach's favorite is the Prabal Gurung gown she wore to the L.A. premiere of Girls Trip. "I’ve actually had my eye on that dress for a long time. I love that there is a trouser under this gown – it was perfect."
FIERCE IN FRINGE
"These looks speak to who Jada is: She's strong and tough, but she's also a wife and a mother and very feminine,’ says Roach.
PLAYING DRESS UP
Her favorite look was the strapless purple Carolina Herrera gown that she wore to the CMT Music Awards in June. "She loved this dress," says Roach. "She wasn’t immediately drawn to it on the rack, but once we got it on and played with the hair and makeup, she said she really felt beautiful."
And she was still feeling her feminine moment at a stop at Jimmy Kimmel Live, choosing a flirty pleated Maria Lucia Hohan halter dress and rose gold Christian Louboutin heels.
