The reality star tried to #BreaktheInternet with her sexy cover. Did she succeed?
The Internet is all caught up with Kim Kardashian.
The 34-year-old reality star has never been shy about her biggest asset, working her curves in tight outfits throughout her career. She’s also responsible for the booty call heard ’round the world: a body-after-baby belfie she Tweeted a year ago showcasing her weight loss in a white one-piece. And who can forget the Keeping Up with the Kardashians episode where she X-rayed her butt on camera to prove the junk in her trunk is really real.
Still, people were shocked when Mrs. Kanye West put her derrière on full display for Paper magazine, recreating Jean-Paul Goude’s iconic “Champagne Incident” portrait for one cover and baring her backside for another — a spontaneous decision, a source close to Kardashian says.
“They went into it with just one cover image in mind — that was it. But Jean-Paul Goude and Kim hit it off, and they asked everyone to leave and they got creative themselves! No publicist, no magazine execs. He has to be inspired and sketch her first and have a vision. So he came up with that: ripping the dress off,” the insider tells PEOPLE. “Kim thought he was amazing and just the best. It was all about the art of it and being creative.”
The images kicked up a social media storm, with other celebrities chiming in on Kardashian choosing to go nude.
“I normally don’t. But … you’re someone’s mother,” she reportedly commented.
But Kardashian isn’t sweating the haters. Her stated mission? #BreaktheInternet.
Did she succeed? Check out the best (and somewhat NSFW) reactions to the scandalous shot below.
