“I train at Rise Movement three times a week,” Duff tells PEOPLE of her gym, an exclusive studio in L.A. that offers yoga as well as private and personal workout sessions. “We focus on strength training, metabolic training and mobility training. We are always doing new things, and I’ve never had this much fun training before.”

And Duff, 26, made sure to step up her cardio routine before slipping into the sexy black two-piece she dons in the video. “In addition to my training, I was doing sprints at the track and running stadium stairs.”

The clip flashes back between the singer as she sits bored at work and then trails off into a daydream where she’s frolicking the shoreline and getting rubbed down with sunscreen by a hot guy with a six-pack. Aside from kicking her workouts up a few notches, Duff says her well-balanced approach to eating helped maintain her fit physique in the weeks leading up to her video.

“I’m not a huge dieter, I try to eat healthy but don’t deprive myself of things that I want or crave,” she shares. “Lots of protein and veggies. A few days before the video I lowered my salt intake and cut carbs and alcohol. Plus, I do Zumba.”
