Exactly how far will Gwyneth Paltrow go to stay youthful? She may have just launched her own natural skincare line and makeup range, but it gets crazier than that: The lifestyle guru just revealed that she’s had treatments as extreme as being voluntarily stung by bees — and no, it wasn’t pleasant.

“I’ve been stung by bees,” the 43-year-old actress tells
The New York Times
. “It’s a thousands of years old treatment called apitherapy. People use it to get rid of inflammation and scarring. It’s actually pretty incredible if you research it. But, man, it’s painful.”
So is that the magical treatment keeping her looking flawless? Unconfirmed, but she’s feeling great about her age nonetheless, telling PeopleStyle recently that her 40s are her favorite decade yet.
“I wish more women had told me that at 40 you sort of stop worrying about what other people think about you, and you come into yourself in the most phenomenal way,” she shared with PeopleStyle. “I think the 40s are such a gift, and I feel more beautiful now than I did 10 years ago or 20 years ago.”
Paltrow’s healthy, natural anti-aging regimen is very important to her, and she swears by a plethora of non-toxic lotions and potions, including a variety from her Goop line. But the one product she’s having trouble parting with? Fragrances, which she says she’s “on the fence about right now.”
“I collect some fragrances, but recently my head of beauty said you have to stop wearing fragrance because it’s unregulated and all that,” she tells The New York Times. “We’re having a fight about it. The problem is, I think essential oils haven’t mastered the art of being subtle and layered.”

And she’ll make an exception for two other not-so-natural indulgences: vodka and french fries. “I think I see now that life is really a balance. And it’s great to eat nutrient-dense organic food, if you can. It’s also really great to drink a vodka and have French fries.”
Now that’s a lifestyle habit we can get behind.
