Grooming Products the Guys in Our Lives Can't Live Without

KIEHL'S FACIAL FUEL
Alex Apatoff, Senior Style Editor: It was hard for my husband to go from zero beauty products to one this year. But what a transition it’s been. After I forced this face wash on him via a Christmas present, he’s now reupped in bulk several times. And I can totally see the change in his skin as well. Next step: moisturizer (dare to dream).
(Bonus male commentary: “I am really noticing a difference in my skin. But make sure you point out that I think it’s expensive.” – Rich Besen, 29)

BOOGIE'S TRUE HAIR FIBER
Andrea Lavinthal, Style and Beauty Director: My boyfriend has better hair than most girls. It’s thick and shiny and requires just a tiny dab of product to look “done.” But finding that product has proven to be an elusive task – he’s the Goldilocks of hair pomades. I’ve brought home dozens of them from work and he always finds an issue: too greasy, too stiff, too fruity-smelling, etc. That is, until I gave him Boogie’s True Hair Fiber. He put it in his hair and left for work without any comment. Which is Justin-speak for “I like it.”
(Bonus male commentary: “Can you get me more?” – Justin Gregory, 34)

AXE SHAMPOO
Colleen Kratofil, Style Writer/Reporter: My dad’s grooming regimen is all about sticking to what works. (He also said he’s used Old Spice since he was 10 years old.) So it makes sense that he’s loving this no-fuss AXE shampoo. But I’m pretty sure he just really uses it because Mets pitcher Matt Harvey loves AXE shampoo too.
(Bonus dude commentary: “It dries my hair out just the right amount. It gets too oily if I use conditioner.” – Don Kratofil, 52)

AVEENO MOISTURIZER
Jackie Fields, Beauty Editor: My boyfriend likes to point out, quite often actually, that he and share something in common: they both slather their faces with Aveeno’s SPF 15 moisturizer. But I’ll take the constant teasing if it means my boo has the smoothest skin around. And I didn’t even have to instruct him to use it sparingly (you know how men like to go overboard with product): just a pump or two of the tube and he’s good to go.
(Bonus male commentary: “”When the air is dry, after I shave my face feels like it’s going to crack into a million pieces. So I put this on to make my skin feel amazing again,” – Dariusz Lechowicz, 38)

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE SUMOTECH
Brittany Talarico, Style News Editor: My husband has more hero hair products than I do. (I hope he doesn’t read this.) But his go-to is this molding paste. He keeps one at home, one at his office, and he never leaves for vacation without a fresh tub in his suitcase. (I like to imagine Justin Theroux feels the same way about his hair routine.)

SEXY HAIR SLEPT IN
Lindsay Schallon, Senior Style Editor: My BF is a total #basicbitch when it comes to beauty. He refuses to use anything other than the gel he fell in love with in high school, and he won’t come close to a product unless it says “For Men” on it. Seriously, you should have seen how upset he was when Sexy Hair changed its packaging. He bought five bottles because he thought it was discontinued! As for why I’m into it? It gives his hair that sexy, disheveled “I woke up like this” look.

BAXTER FACE WASH
Sarah Kinonen, Style and Beauty Assistant: Before my boyfriend and I started dating three years ago, his daily grooming arsenal contained a bar of Irish Spring, two-in-one shampoo and a comb. Nowadays, thanks to a lot of coaxing from his not-so-patient girlfriend, he’s revamped his routine to include a variety of products, including this face wash, moisturizer and even SPF. I’m quite proud of his grooming growth, but I’ll be the first to admit he’s still missing a few major items (ahem, anti-aging cream!). But I don’t doubt that we’ll eventually get there. Baby steps.
(Bonus male commentary: “It has no scent and makes my skin feel clean.” – David Carr, 28)

CHAPSTICK
Lindy Segal, Style Social Editor: My brother mentions Chapstick in his Twitter bio. That’s how much he loves his lip balm. I throw a three-pack into every birthday gift, because I’m such a good sister.
(Bonus male commentary: “I’m addicted to fun and ChapStick.” – Kevin Segal, 27)

OLAY ULTRA MOISTURE BODY WASH
Andrea Lavinthal, Style and Beauty Director: As I’ve mentioned before, my father is really into beauty products. He’s always game to try out the latest serums and lotions, but the one thing he never switches up is his Olay body wash. And if you ask him why he likes it, he’ll actually namecheck the moisturizing formula’s superhero ingredient, shea butter. It’s a shame he went to law school. He could’ve been a great beauty editor.
