We’ve already talked about the major hair trend at Monday night’s Grammys, so it’s time to move on to the makeup look that stars seemed to be requesting in droves: the perennially popular cat-eye.

First up, Adele wore (what else?) the look that’s become almost as much her signature as her giant voice: a slightly exaggerated, deep-but-not-too-deep liquid liner (thanks to Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Liner). She teamed the sophisticated swipe with a glossy nude lip and a subtly contoured cheek. Just add a sepia filter, and you’ve got the “Hello” video.

Anna Kendrick opted for a sultry version of the traditional cat eye with an assist from makeup pro Vanessa Scali. Scali winged out Kendrick’s liner but added some edge with a gray smoky shadow smudged beneath her lower lash line. With a few coats of Elizabeth Arden’s Grand Entrance Mascara and a pink lip, Kendrick was ready to present at the awards.

Vanessa Lachey, on the other hand, opted for a subtler wing that emphasized her voluminous lashes and didn’t compete with her hot-pink lip. Makeup artist Kristi Fuhrmann-Kerr posted a sweet snap of the Lacheys’ date night, but left out the key detail: How do we get our lashes to look like that?

Someone had to give BadGalRiri vibes when Rihanna herself dropped out, and Andra Day stepped up to the plate. The singer brought the drama with a flick that extended to her temples, then teamed the liquid liner look with a matte, ombré wine-hued lip.

And finally, Tove Lo gave the traditional cat eye a bold twist, thanks to celebrity makeup artist Colby Smith. The stand-out shadow was inspired by Cleopatra according to Smith, and brought an unexpected element to a simple little black dress.

Are you a fan of the cat-eye liner look? Will you be trying any of these looks?
