People.com Lifestyle Style Golden Globes 2015: Our Favorite Looks of the Night Julianne! Kate! Emma! Editors pick their favorite looks of the night By Brittany Talarico Brittany Talarico Brittany Talarico is PEOPLE's Deputy Style Director, where she oversees the brand's digital Style and Beauty coverage. This includes running lead on the Met Gala, which is among PEOPLE.com's top-trafficked red carpet events every year, interviewing the industry's top influencers (including all the Kardashian-Jenners), and breaking A-list celeb news (a New Jersey shore native, it is no surprise that her favorite interview ever was with Bruce Springsteen). Brittany is a style contributor to People Every Day Podcast and has represented the brand on national TV programs including Good Morning America and The CW's two TV specials on the British Royals. She joined PEOPLE from Cosmopolitan in 2013, where she was an Associate Editor. People Editorial Guidelines Updated on December 1, 2020 08:00 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Now that we’ve seen all the glamorous (and polarizing!) looks hit the Golden Globes red carpet, we’ve narrowed down our top picks below. (Don’t see your favorite? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments!) Steve Granitz/WireImage Catherine Kast, Style Writer: To be clear, I am not sick of seeing Kate Hudson‘s stunning physique in plunging Atelier Versace pieces (hello, last year’s Oscars). It doesn’t get old, which is a good thing. This year’s gown simply isn’t “old Hollywood glamour,” which is why it’s a standout. It’s athletic (with a super-long racer back) and sleek (thanks to a clean silhouette and minimalist center-part bun). Another element of her gown that feels very 2015 is the way she’s putting a spin on showing underwear as formal-wear. None of that “undies under sheer hems” trend: the sparkly detail on her sides looks like boning on a futuristic corset. RELATED PHOTOS: The night’s most red-hot trend? Red, of course! 11 sexy scarlet Golden Globes gowns John Shearer/AP John Shearer/AP Andrea Lavinthal, Style and Beauty Director: It was brought to my attention that not everyone on the PEOPLE style team thinks Julianne Moore is the best dressed actress at the Golden Globes, let alone a best dressed actress at the Golden Globes. Those editors have since been relieved of their duties. On someone else, the combo of sparkles, feathers and ombré would be overwhelming. But the 54-year-old wears this custom Givenchy, plus Chopard diamond cluster earrings, rings and a bracelet, like the high-fashion pro that she is. If anyone else showed up in this custom Lanvin jumpsuit, I might have felt differently, but Emma wore the look with such a cool-girl confidence that it just worked. The onesie was very Old Hollywood on the top thanks to that embellished silver bodice … and very “New” Hollywood on the bottom with those chic, bow-embellished trousers. And the pointy Christian Louboutins pulled the whole look together. RELATED PHOTOS: 360° of Golden Globes Glamour: See the prettiest gowns and most gorgeous hair from every angle! Kevork Djansezian/Getty Alex Apatoff, Senior Style Editor: I loved the unexpected yellow dresses at the Golden Globes (hi, Naomi Watts and Jenna Dewan-Tatum) but none more than Leslie Mann’s fully sequined sunshine-yellow KaufmanFranco column. I thought it was a personal best for the actress — it was a sexy, flattering, standout moment that should have gotten more love. My favorite part? The surprising green touches (courtesy Kimberly McDonald jewels and a high-shine clutch) that took the look from elegant to exceptional. RELATED PHOTOS: The Biggest Fashion Risk-Takers at the Golden Globes John Shearer/AP Sarah Kinonen, Editorial Assistant: Emily Blunt‘s chic pleated cut-out Michael Kors gown (I totally predicted she’d wear a look from the designer), is such a simple and elegant take on the skin-baring red-carpet dress trend. And as for the rest of her ensemble? Her ethereal look — complete with turquoise statement earrings, natural makeup and a braided updo — is one I’m deeming the best of the night. RELATED PHOTOS: The sexiest guys rocking scruff (from Adam Levine’s barely-there stubble to Matthew McConaughey’s mountain-man beard) at the Golden Globes! John Shearer/AP John Shearer/AP Loni Venti, Style and Beauty Editor: Is this woman a vision or what? From Rosamund Pike’s envy-inducing physique (reminder: she gave birth five weeks ago!) flaunted in this sexy cut-out Vera Wang Collection number, to her sleek, swingy chin-length bob, she is red carpet perfection in my book. I love how she skipped bold makeup makeup and statement bling to let her gorgeous features and gown take center stage creating an effortlessly feminine and modern masterpiece. Kevork Djansezian/Getty Kevork Djansezian/Getty Jackie Fields, Beauty Writer: I say hats off to Helen Mirren, who flaunted her stunning figure (the woman is 69-years-old, people) in a radiant red Dolce & Gabbana dress. From the bejewled neckline to the blingy drop earrings, no one seamlessly blended “sexy” and “sophisticated” like Dame Helen. I even love her matching red lip and Salvatore Ferragamo clutch — it makes me wonder if she’s got a playful red pump on, too! RELATED PHOTOS: The beauty looks you can’t miss from the Golden Globes!
