She wore athleisure before it was called athleisure and she’s led the personalized gear trend throughout this entire year. So when she stepped out at the British Fashion Awards on Monday night in London wearing a pants-gown, we a.) did a double-take and b.) prepared ourselves for the pant-gown revolution that’s bound to come in 2017. Hadid continued her Atelier Versace style streak in a silk seafoam sculpted gown with choker-style collar and draped train paired with straight leg pants from the Italian label’s Fall 2016 collection. Alexa Chung wore a pale yellow fur-trimmed suit. Victoria’s Secret model Joan Smalls wore a pair of metallic harem pants with a matching crop top (both Baja East). Nicole Scherzinger channeled her inner JLo in a sheer, beaded jumpsuit with a cape. And Jourdan Dunn selected a pale pink pair of flares teamed with a matching bandeau. Richard Young/REX/Shutterstock Even designer Ralph Lauren flipped the style script, skipping tuxedo pants for a pair of worn-in denim jeans. We’d say this was a very “Kanye West move,” but Ralph has been doing black-tie denim since Kanye was in diapers. What do you think of formal pants on the red carpet? How about Gigi’s look?
