You’ve been busily bookmarking our gift guide, but this December, we’re also going to draw your attention to great gifts that also give back — to the community, to children, to the world around us. Check them out, and share your favorite gifts that give in the comments.

It’s not unusual for jewelry designers to create special pieces for charity, but Joan Hornig does them one better. All of the proceeds from every piece she sells go directly to the charitable organization of your choice — either from a drop-down menu with dozens to choose from, or if you don’t see one that suits your fancy, you can enter a new charity at checkout.

Celebrity fans include Kerry Washington and Kate Beckinsale, who love Hornig’s sculptural, elegant designs as much as they love the phenomenally charitable mission of the designer. If you’ve got a celeb budget, we love this “Trimmings” cuff, which retails for (gulp) $18,800. But Hornig has plenty of more affordable pieces (like these “Wishbone” hoops), which are guaranteed to bring smiles to the recipients, both of the jewelry and of Hornig’s generous donations — and in turn, that will bring a smile to your face.

How are you giving back this holiday season? What’s your charity of choice? Let us know in the comments.
