UPDATE 12/19/2016: If you couldn’t get your hands on Selena’s coveted M.A.C. collection the first time around, you’re about to have your chance. The brand announced Monday that due to “overwhelming passion and excitement from Selena’s fans,” they’re re-stocking the collection online on Wednesday Dec. 28, and in stores Thursday Dec. 29. All products from the original collection (aside from the Liquid Eyeliner in Boot Black) will be available on M.A.C.’s website and in stores, as well as at Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and more.
M.A.C is honoring the life of Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla 21 years after her tragic death with a new multi-product, limited-edition collection, and PeopleStyle has all of the exclusive details on the line.
“I wanted the colors to be about her personally, what she wore on and offstage,” Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, tells PeopleStyle exclusively. “She has been gone for 21 years already, and for this collaboration to happen, it’s pretty much incredible. It just shows the love her fan base has even though she’s gone; that her music still lives on and her legacy has grown tremendously since she’s passed. It’s a great honor to have M.A.C collaborate with Selena’s name and her fans — for her fans.”
Though full details are limited, PeopleStyle can exclusively report that the collection will be filled with bright, bold lipsticks (as shown above) packaged in equally vibrant purple tubes.
Suzette shares that her sister, who was murdered by her fan-club president Yolanda Saldívar in 1995, always hoped to have a makeup collection of her own.
“Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late-night conversations on our tour bus when she spoke of having her own makeup line one day,” Suzette says. “If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made.”
