They may have played rival cheerleading captains in the 2000 film Bring It On but in real life, Gabrielle Union and Kirsten Dunst are friends and fashion influencers.

Union, 44, and husband Dwyane Wade, 35, attended Monday’s 2017 CFDA Awards in New York together for a date night to celebrate American fashion and leading designers. The Being Mary Jane actress, who opted for a metallic sequin duster coat from Rodarte’s fall 2017 ready-to-wear collection, revealed she was introduced to designer sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy through Dunst!

“I love it, I love them — I feel like badass,” Union told CFDA Awards’ Facebook Live host Brad Goreski. “I discovered them from Kirsten Dunst. It goes back to Bring It On. It all goes back to Bring It On.”

Wade was equally stylish in a menswear look by Gucci.

Dunst, 35, has been a longtime friend of the Mulleavy siblings ever since the designers started their brand in 2005 from their parents’ Pasadena, California, basement. The trio have often collaborated on red carpet ensembles including the Met Gala and the CFDA Awards. At last year’s CFDAs, Dunst wore a silver midi dress from Rodarte’s Fall 2016 collection.
