What to wear to one of Hollywood’s most glamorous events, the Cannes Film Festival? While female stars like Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie get to don extravagant couture gowns from Gucci and Versace, most guys settle for basic tuxedos and the occasional linen suit. Not so for the ever-dapper Ryan Gosling, who turned to Salvatore Ferragamo to create a series of retro-inspired looks for his time at the festival. We first spotted his ’50s-cool look in a custom-made Prince of Wales suit, white shirt and two-tone shoes at the Cinema for Peace dinner. The next day, he added a dash of louche glamour to the Drive photo call in a pajama-style, cream-piped navy shirt and matching cream slacks. For the film’s premiere, Gosling turned up the charm in a custom powder blue, two-button tuxedo with a classic bow-tie and patent shoes. Ferragamo Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti tells PEOPLE exclusively of dressing Gosling, “The custom suiting I created for Ryan in Cannes reflects his young, modern, and sexy style while staying true to his inherent sophistication. He is the ultimate Ferragamo man.” And ultimate Cannes fashion plate!
