Even More Reasons To Love Demi Lovato (One Involves an All-Family Period Celebration, Which Rules)

The singer and skincare entrepreneur shares her guilty pleasure, favorite food and more fun facts with PEOPLE

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Demi Lovato really does do it all. From touring the world to launching a skincare line to fronting more than a few ad campaigns this year, the crazy-busy star is still making time for a new endeavor: being the face The Radiant Collection from Tampax and Always. She chatted with us about how she makes it all work (and still makes time for TV).

Well, that’s one way to keep workouts fun!
“I love going on the treadmill and walking on a really high incline and doing a power walk — and also singing at the same time!”

She can’t wait to shed some layers this spring.
“I’ve really started to get excited about wearing shorts,” she said. “I tried on my shorts that I wasn’t able to fit into last summer, and some of them are too big on me — so that’s exciting!”

But she wants to remind everyone that beauty isn’t one size fits all.
“The photo that I shared on Instagram, I just wanted people to know that you don’t have to have a thigh gap to be beautiful, and to reinforce that it’s all about finding the confidence inside.”

Her favorite food is dessert.
The star’s top bite? Easy: “Chocolate chip cookies!”

She got on board for The Radiant Collection to inspire women to be confident. (Fun fact: Her family made her a poster board-size card when she first got her period to celebrate!)
“[The campaign] really resonated with me because I’m all for women and empowerment,” she told PEOPLE. “And that’s really what this is about — trying to build women’s self-esteem, find their confidence and be radiant. I love what it stands for.” So no YM-style period horror stories for her? “I told my mom and my sister … and they actually embarrassed me so bad. My sister folded a poster board in half and made a card out of it and drew pictures, and it said, ‘Happy Period Day!’ And she drew stick figures and kisses, and she used red markers … I have a pretty good sense of humor, so on one hand, I was totally embarrassed, and on the other, I thought it was awesome.”

Like her ever-changing hair style, her favorite hair color changes, too.
“I think my best hair color is black,” she said. “Just because that’s what I have [right now].”

And just like the rest of us, when it comes to TV, you can find her sitting in front of the tube on Thursdays.
Her favorite show? “Scandal!”
