The host was summer wedding-ready in this easy, breezy gown
Another season of Dancing with the Stars is coming to its inevitable close, and with it another season of one major look after the next from the show’s host Erin Andrews. Week after week, Andrews has given us a behind-the-scenes look at exactly what goes into crafting the look around those over-the-top gowns, but for the penultimate episode of the season, she decided to flip her typical sartorial script on its head and give us what her stylist Alyssa Greene perfectly described as “easy Cali chic.”
Although most weeks you can credit Alyssa for creating Erin’s head-to-toe evening look, this week it was all Erin. The host told PeopleStyle exclusively, “I found tonight’s dress when I was helping my girlfriend shop for her summer trip to London. I was searching Intermix’s website a few weeks ago, found it, and sent it to Alyssa to get her thoughts. We loved it when I tried it on. So simple, but gorgeous enough for the ballroom. I received so many compliments on it in the ballroom and the Internet. It feels like the perfect summer evening dress. Many women tweeted me that it was a great one to wear to a wedding. I can’t wait to wear it again over the next few months. Never did I think it would be this big of a hit, but the colors are beautiful, the cut is elegant, it has a princess touch to it.”
And her stylist couldn’t agree more, “I loved it and thought it would be amazing for the show!” Alyssa enthused, “We’ve been on such a feminine kick lately that this dress had us feeling summery…I felt the delicate purple and blue lace would look best with feminine rose gold Le Vian and Maxior jewels. If only the shoes were showing because they are one of my fave sandals of the season, from Aquazzura!”

In terms of the glam, hairstylist Ryan Randall always has a pithy bon mot for his look every week and last night it was simply, “lived-in luxe,” or as Erin put it, “kind of an effortless, summer vibe” to go with her gown.
“Change is good!” Randall continued, “The last few weeks, Erin has had the most amazing updos. This week, we opted for a lived-in, down look. A beachy, more relaxed look to complement the intricate lace of the Alexis gown.” For those looking to get their own beach babe beauty at home, Randall dished on all the technical deets, disclosing, “After a rough dry, I used a 1.25-in. marcel iron and curled random sections in alternating directions. I dragged out the curls as they cooked so as to not end up too curly. Slight bend and wave is the goal. Once the waves were in, I used Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray to break up the curl, add texture and a lived-in feel. I also added a few clip-in extensions, courtesy of Rapunzel of Sweden, for added fullness, movement and a pop of lighter blonde highlight. I finished it off with some L’Oréal Elnett hairspray for a touchable hold.”
And, of course, the makeup had to follow suit, with makeup artist Elan Maldonado creating “a tan, bronzy look with a lot of lashes!” (Sho Fluffy Velour Lashes to be exact, paired with Enjoue Skin Glow to achieve Erin’s ethereal flawless complexion.) “I decided to do a modern smoky eye & glowy bronzed skin,” Maldonado explains, “I used Anastasia eyeshadow palette in Couture, a pop of Stila Foil shadow in Comix Copper on her lid for a illuminating effect.” Finally, he added Give Me Sun bronzing powder & Becca Champagne Pop highlighter, finishing the look with a peachy gloss from Motives in Adore Me. In other words, a super low-key look for an equally low-key lady.
