Andrea Lavinthal, Style and Beauty Director: I stopped wearing perfume when I was pregnant last year and became super sensitive to smells. Once I had the baby, I barely remembered to shower let alone apply fragrance. I probably would’ve kept my scent-free streak going well into 2017, if it wasn’t for our resident perfume expert, Jackie Fields. She’s very discerning when it comes to what fragrances make it into the pages of PEOPLE and this fall, she chose Gucci Bloom as one of the hottest new aromas. I gave it a whiff and instantly fell in love with the unique floral blend. I’ve been wearing it exclusively for months and am still obsessed.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
Jackie Fields, Beauty Editor: Just when I was ready to set fire to 2017, Rihanna released Fenty Beauty, complete with a 40 shades of foundation and a campaign that has, hopefully, changed the conversation around diversity and inclusivity in the industry for good. But about the formula though: Every compliment I have received about my beat since September, I owe to Riri. For the first time in, well, ever, I have one bottle of foundation in my arsenal, and gone are the days that I am cocktailing different shades together in vain. A beauty editor who has serious feels about foundation (no other beauty product has made me feel less like myself) — this Bad Gal has made me a believer. So yeah Rihanna, if you’re looking for your money in 2018, I’m good for at least $34.

Lune+Aster Hydrabright Concealer
Jillian Ruffo, Associate Beauty Editor: To say I’ve been searching for the perfect concealer since the day I began wearing makeup would be an understatement. But I’ve finally found my match in this creamy, medium coverage formula. The hyaluronic acid-packed creamy formula hydrates skin, feels super lightweight and stays on all day — so much so that it’s replaced my foundation.

Laura Mercier Instant Ink Eyeliner
Alex Apatoff, Deputy Style Director: I’ve never been loyal to any one eyeliner; I was happy to grab whatever was in our beauty closet and just rotate among different types for different effects. Then I tried this, and I’m never going back to my old ways. The liquid formula is super-pigmented but never budges, and the extremely fine tip allows you to go from a tight, barely-visible line at your lashes to a really dramatic cat eye with zero effort. Next up: Finding the perfect mascara to go with it.

Jergen's Wet Skin Natural Glow Moisturizer
Brittany Talarico, Senior Style Editor: My beauty cabinet, much like my closet, is a mix of high-low products, and this drugstore moisturizer is the MVP of 2017. (That’s why it won our Beauty Award!) Just like the bottle touts, it gives a natural, even glow and doesn’t leave behind that dreaded self tanner smell. It absorbs smoothly and leaves skin bronzy and soft. I use it daily and have yet to get the winter blues.

Moroccanoil Body Soufflé
Kaitlyn Frey, Style & Beauty Assistant: Over the years, I’ve become completely obsessed with the original scent of Moroccanoil’s hair products. So when I came across the brand’s rich body lotion earlier this year which has the same fragrance, I knew I had to have it. Since then, I’ve gone through three jars of this lotion. Trust me: it’s expensive, but worth it. The scent is so intoxicatingly luxurious, I just can’t get enough. Now as we’re in the midst of the harsh cold winter, I plan on continuing to slather it on all over my body nonstop.

TARTE SHAPE TAPE CONCEALER
Kaitlyn Frey, Style & Beauty Assistant: I haven’t shut up about this concealer all year long. The second it launched, the internet went crazy calling it the best concealer of all time. Needless to say, I had to try it and find out for myself. And boy, was everyone right. This creamy formula gives you tons of coverage, but never looks cake-y, heavy or crease-y. I’ve recommended it to all of my friends, own multiple shades to match my skin at all times throughout the year and plan on staying loyal to it long beyond 2017.

ESSENCE COSMETICS LASH PRINCESS MASCARA
Andrea Lavinthal, Style and Beauty Director: Some of the best beauty products can be found in the drugstore. Case in point: This mascara, which won a PEOPLE Beauty Award this year. It gives you the longest lashes ever for about a quarter of the price of anything you’ll find at Sephora. The $4 formula is so good, there are even reddit discussions dedicated to it!

BARE MINERALS DAILY PREP LOTION
Colleen Kratofil, Style Writer-Reporter: I’ve always understood the importance of wearing sunscreen every single day, but could never figure out how to make that happen without ruining my makeup. And that was because I didn’t discover Bare Minerals’ Daily Prep Lotion yet. This primer changed everything for me. It’s a super lightweight invisible sunscreen that’s meant to be worn before applying makeup, so it actually preps the skin for the rest of the products in my daily routine. I started wearing it this summer and now it’s the most priceless product in my medicine cabinet.

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water
Alex Apatoff, Deputy Style Director: I’m fully aware that it’s deranged to spend $43 on a bottle of water to wash off your face. But this is one of the occupational hazards of our job: You try something expensive, you get hooked, and suddenly you’re eating ramen noodles to pay for your fancy water addiction. But I promise: Just a splash of this on a cotton pad immediately eliminates very stubborn long-wear lipstick and liner, and makes my face feel incredibly clean, with no sticky residue or weird smell. I’m already putting sale alerts on it for next year.

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream
Lindy Segal, Style Social Media Editor: I have that fun type of dry skin that I can’t use anything too heavy on or my pores will get crazy-clogged. When I first learned about this cream, I was immediately interested due to the high hylaluronic acid content — it’s known as a super-powerful hydrator. As soon as I tried it, I was hooked. The “cloud-like” texture is heavenly, and it truly moisturizes as well as advertised.

Sisley Paris Face Lotion
Brittany Talarico, Senior Style Editor: This lotion is luxe, but worth every penny. It leaves my skin feeling ultra-hydrated in the winter months, lightens acne scars and overall boosts my complexion. I hope to find a new bottle in my stocking this year.

Giorgio Armani Crema Nuda
Kaitlyn Frey, Style & Beauty Assistant: There’s something magic in this tinted moisturizer. It’s as lightweight as your usual BB cream, but somehow covers all your imperfections like a heavy-duty foundation. The best part? It leaves your skin actually looking like skin with a natural, dewy glow. I’ll be savoring this one until the last drop.

Troi Olliverre for J.Crew Lipstick
Alex Apatoff, Deputy Style Director: Bright lipstick is kind of my thing, and by that I mean, I have about 50 bright lipsticks. So for a new one to impress me, it’s got to be a real standout. J. Crew finally got their longtime makeup artist to create a tube of their signature orangey-red shade, and it’s everything you always wanted it to be. Wear it with a cargo jacket and sequin heels for maximum effect.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
Briana Draguca, Style & Beauty Intern: I used to rarely experiement with eye shadow––I was a neutrals only kind of girl but when I got my hands on this palette I knew it was time for me to step outside of my comfort zone. The perfect mix of neutral and berry tones in this palette let me add a pop of color to my every day looks without fearing I’d look too done up. My favorite combination of colors is “golden ochre” on my lid, “red ochre” in my crease, “burnt orange” in my outer corner, and finishing off with “primavera” in my inner corner for some shimmer.

Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara
Briana Draguca, Style & Beauty Intern: I’ve been blessed with really curly and long lashes but the downside is that my mascara often gets clumpy and ends up flaking all over my eye. That’s why this Tarte mascara was a game-changer. The formula is super light-weight so it doesn’t flake and the molded wand is full and flexible so it coats every single one of my lashes. And most importantly, it gives me just the right amount of volumized color for my thick lashes.

Kiehl's Since 1851 Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Kami Phillips, E-Commerce Editor: It’s no surprise why this is one of Nordstrom’s best selling beauty products. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery concentrate is a blend of essential oils that you apply at night to restore and repair your skin’s natural moisture. It can be used on your face or body and you can even add a few drops to a warm bath. Either way you’lll wake up with soft and glowing skin (especially during the winter).

Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara
Jillian Ruffo, Associate Beauty Editor: If I had to choose only one beauty product to use for the rest of my life, it would be mascara — hands down. Which means I’m very, very picky when it comes to finding the perfect formula. And since this new one from Lancôme entered my life this year, I’ve never looked back. It gives my lashes the perfect combination of length, volume and separation to give a doll-like effect without ever clumping, and it never flakes or runs.
