Many of Demi Lovato‘s tattoos tell a story. She has the words “Stay” and “Strong” on her wrists as a thank-you to fans for supporting her while she was seeking treatment for “emotional and physical issues” in 2011. The flock of 12 birds on her forearm (by famous artist Kat Von D) are a reminder of her faith. But her latest tat happens to cover up an older one that didn’t turn out exactly as the singer hoped.

“Bye bye 💋 and hello 🌹.. Thank you SO MUCH to my brother @GEESPOTAT2… It looks beaaauutiful and I LOVE it!! 💉💉💉 #RIPvaginatattoo #kidsdontdodrugs,” Lovato captioned the above photo on Instagram showing off her fresh ink. And if you are trying to decode exactly what she’s talking about, let us help. It looks like her new blooming flower covers up an older kiss tat that reminded the star of lady bits. She also turned the photo op into a PSA, advising fans to stay clean.
Lovato’s Instagram feed is always filled with inspirational messages. The star is known for being candid about what’s on her mind and promoting a healthy body image for young girls.
“I just wanted people to know that you don’t have to have a thigh gap to be beautiful, and to reinforce that it’s all about finding the confidence inside,” she told PEOPLE earlier this year of sharing bikini photos.
