Even though Labor Day has come and gone, that doesn’t mean you have to toss all of your white clothes and accessories aside. Here, I wanted to take a floral Simply Be dress I’ve been wearing all summer and combine it with an oversize Carmakoma blazer to create a vibe that feels a little more fall. You might look at a white blazer and a floral dress and think “summer”, but, when paired together, the result is actually surprisingly autumnal. I love an oversize blazer with a little dress — the loose, longer fit balances out the shorter hemline. It gives a masculine-feminine feel which looks effortlessly cool, and if you’re worried about showing too much in the dress, this is a great, stylish way to cover up.
As you all know, I love to layer. When you’re layering a boxier piece like an oversize blazer, the key is to go for an option in a thinner fabric, like this white blazer. It won’t add bulk, and the fabric will skim over your curves. This blazer nips in a bit at the waist to show my shape, which is nice. And it also helps when your base layer is something shorter and more fitted, like my floral-print dress. At the end of the day, you don’t want to lose your shape no matter what silhouette you’re going for. I pushed up the sleeves of the blazer to show another hint of skin, and to make sure that the shape doesn’t look overwhelming on my body.
My Vince Camuto booties are cut a little bit lower on the ankle which helps keep the line of my legs intact, my adjustable Alexis Bittar cuff is sleek and simple, and I added the Eloquii clutch to pick up the colors in my dress.
When it comes to style, I say anything goes. With this white on white fall look, I certainly wasn’t afraid to break a few “rules”–and you shouldn’t be either!
