This Fashion Month has been a chaotic one, to say the least. From the “prankster” attacking famous female celebs outside the shows, to Kim’s harrowing robbery, this season seems to be marked both by troubling physical attacks and a lack of famous people sitting in the front row. While the Dior show featured an A-list FROW has far as the eye could see, it was very much the exception. Even Chanel, which had models dressed as storm trooper-esque robots marching down the catwalk, couldn’t manage to draw its usual star-studded crowd, with many brand favorites, including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kristen Stewart, and Cara Delevingne, conspicuously absent.
For their Spring/Summer 2017 show, Chanel and its creative director Karl Lagerfeld decided to bestow upon us the house’s vision of the future, a place where everything is made of metal and covered in circuitry, robots have usurped the role of supermodels, sideways printed baseball caps have gone from the accessory of choice for ’80s b-boys to the domain of couture, while the actual fashions coming down the catwalk look more or less the same as the always have.
Of course, a celebrity-less show is all in the eye of the beholder as there were still plenty of recognizable faces, including brand ambassador Lily-Rose Depp, Roger Federer, Courtney Love and Francis Bean Cobain, Usher and naturally, Steve Harvey and his wife. But while the crowd was overwhelming composed of French actors, musicians, and models, some of the house’s most steadfast supporters were oddly not in attendance. Which has us wondering, what was so important that these stars missed the biggest show in Paris?
Kendall, of course, was dealing with the fallout from her sister’s robbery, flying back to NYC early Monday morning to be with her family during this difficult time.
Chanel It-girl Kristen Stewart, was busy stunning on the red carpet at the New York Film Festival, promoting her latest movie Certain Women, wearing a maroon Sandro pantsuit with a FOUNDRAE Strength Medallion necklace and no shirt underneath and showing off her fresh platinum blonde dye job.
Cara Delevingne was preoccupied in New York, getting a spooky new addition to her collection of body art, visiting her favorite tattoo artist Bang Bang NYC to get a very realistic set of eyes inked on the back of her neck. Good luck doing anything behind this former model’s back ever again.
Diane Kruger has been understandably pretty low-key this fashion week after her breakup with longtime partner Joshua Jackson. After attending Valentino on Sunday, it appears the actress decided to take a break from the bustle of the season, indulging in a little self-pampering, and a whole lot of memes.
And while there’s no word yet on what Gigi was up to, Bella appears to have skipped town for Tokyo to visit the Japanese outpost of Chrome Hearts, the brand owned by her best friend Jesse Jo Stark‘s family whose latest campaign she also photographed.
Sounds like Lagerfeld is going to have to go in search of an all new class of muses, perhaps this time he should consider choosing ones that have a little more free time on their hands.
