Celebrity Makeup Artist Mario Dedivanovic Predicts 2019's Biggest Makeup Trends
The Makeup Master
When Mario Dedivanovic, best known as @MakeupByMario on social media, first met Kim Kardashian West on the set of a Social Life magazine cover shoot more than 10 years ago, he didn't quite know who she was. After that, his agent demanded he stop working with her, because a reality star would ruin his career. Flash forward to 2019: Dedivanovic has created some of Kardashian West's most iconic makeup looks (among countless other celebs), gained over 6.1 million Instagram followers and started his own makeup Master Class to teach aspiring makeup artists his tricks of the trade (oh, and yes, he did drop that agent).
In honor of Dedivanovic's latest Master Class hosted in L.A., where the makeup artist exclusively debuted Tatcha's newest gamechanging product, we got his scoop on the hottest makeup trends to look out for in 2019. Scroll through to see how Dedivanovic created each one on his clients, plus his methods to easily achieve the looks at home.
The Trend: Glossy Lids
Why Mario Loves It: This is such an easy way to give yourself a quick editorial look or take your makeup from day-to-night. It is an effortless trick and can give a sexy 'undone’ look.
How to Do It: Once you've completed your eye shadow you can take either a clean brush -- or even your finger if you're in a hurry -- and gently wipe emollient Vaseline across the eyelids.

The Trend: Luminous Skin
Why Mario's Loving It: I see the younger generation paying more attention to what skincare products they are using and becoming more aware of the effects of their overall regimens. So having a healthy, dewy glow has become more popular. Since we’ve seen so much heavy makeup on skin over the last few years, the shift to a glowy base is a much needed (and much appreciated!) break!
How to Do It: The key to glow or dewy skin is prepping and setting it. I recommend using the Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream prior to makeup application and finishing the look by spraying the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist directly onto the face.
The Trend: Glitter
Why Mario's Loving It: In the past year I have done a few different looks at my Master Class using glitter. It is a great way to intensify the eye and a fun way to experiment with makeup.
How to Do It: Both Lemonhead Spacepaste and Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows are a quick and easy way to add glitter to the eyes without making any mess. Taking a clean brush, dip into either product and apply it to the inner corner of the eye for a hint of shimmer.

The Trend: Bold Eye Color
Why Mario's Loving It: I think it is exciting to see more people willing to experiment with their makeup. Sometimes bold color can be intimidating, but adding a hint or subtle accent can really elevate the look.
How to Do It: Line the lash line using your favorite Laura Mercier Caviar Stick or an eyeliner, and buff it out using a smudge brush. This will give you a smoky liner effect. For extra pop, you can apply a line of powder shadow over it.
