They Do! Celebrity Bridesmaids
They're usually the center of attention, but these stars are happy to play second fiddle when it comes to their best friends' weddings
Something blue! The supermodel (right) shared a selfie from her weekend trip home to St. Louis, matching with eight other bridesmaids in a robin egg blue high-neck gown as they posed for a pic with the bride.
The Riverdale star (third from left) was one of seven bridesmaids and four bridesmen that stood up at the wedding of Petsch's castmate Vanessa Morgan to her baseball player love Michael Kopech.
Petsch and the other bridesmaids (pictured getting ready in matching robes) wore orange cowlneck slip dresses, and the actress read "To Love Is Not to Possess," by James Kavanagh during the ceremony.
Celebrities often spend so much time in the makeup chair that they become close friends with their glam squad members, and that's definitely the case with Lady Gaga and her pro, Sarah Tanno. The Global Artistry Director for Marc Jacobs Beauty and Haus Laboratories co-founder got married in Mexico this weekend, and her celebrity bridesmaid wore a pretty pink Jonathan Simkhai slip dress with matching pink hair. Gaga wrote on Instagram, "Two of my best friends just got married. Time to party!"
VANESSA HUDGENS & ASHLEY TISDALE
Rihanna headed back home to Barbados for the wedding of her childhood friend Sonita Alexander and was all-smiles during the ceremony, seen here cheering on her bestie in a cobalt blue dress with ruffled sleeves.
The actress served as "groomswoman" for her Mad Men co-star Michael Gladis' wedding to actress Beth Behrs (inset), wearing the same Joanna August wrap dress that Beth's bridesmaids wore.
It's the ultimate BFF tradeoff: Taylor wrote childhood pal Abigail Anderson into one of her songs, and Abigail gave her the honor of carrying her train (while wearing a ruched maroon halter and matching lipstick).
HAILEY & IRELAND BALDWIN
Hailey Baldwin (left) was the maid of honor at her sister Alaia's wedding, posing for a family photo with her mother (center) and cousin Ireland (right) who also served as a bridesmaid looking chic in all black.
Bestie Julianne Hough's wedding marked Nina's first time being a bridesmaid, and it did not disappoint: "It was absolutely breathtaking and perfect," she tells PeopleStyle of the experience. Of course, we'd feel the same if we got to wear custom pale pink Marchesa and hit the dance floor with pros like the Houghs!
MARY-KATE OLSEN & ASHLEY OLSEN
When the bride says "wear floral," you wear floral - even if you're an Olsen with a longtime devotee to all-black everything. (They opted for vintage, kimono-y attire, however - they couldn't go too far off their aesthetic.)
TRACEE ELLIS ROSS
Tracee served as a bridesmaid in her brother Ross Arne Naess' wedding (and so did sister-in-law Ashlee Simpson!) wearing a simple white slip dress and wreath crown. And yes, she had permission to wear the bridal color, as all the ladies who participated in the nuptials wore that hue, including her mom Diana Ross.
VANDERPUMP RULES CAST
Stassi Schroeder, Scheana Marie, Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright stood up for castmate Katie Maloney's wedding in silver V-neck halter gowns (that cost less than $180!) from White by Vera Wang for David's Bridal. And Maloney told PeopleStyle the key to finding a style all the "picky b---s" would agree upon was making sure it "was pretty but not over the top or with a ton of sequins or sparkles."
Rachel wore a pale mauve off-the-shoulder mermaid gown, an ethereal golden crown and a buckled wool cape to be #alwaysabridemaid for Hart of Dixie costumer Gelareh Khalioun.
Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Marie's wedding may not have been enduring (she and her husband split two years later), but the peach gowns worn by her 'maids, including costar Ariana, third from left, will stand the test of time.
GEORGIA MAY & ELIZABETH JAGGER
Jerry Hall's daughters with Mick Jagger wore elegantly draped pale blue Vivienne Westwood gowns to stand up for their mom's wedding to Rupert Murdoch.
The bride-to-be wore a white dress and wreath of flowers to serve as a bridesmaid for her younger brother Matthew's big day - perfect for the relaxed outdoor ceremony, which took place in Hunter Valley, Australia.
EMMA SLATER, LINDSAY ARNOLD, BRITTANY CHERRY AND JENNA JOHNSON
When Witney Carson chose her bridesmaids, she also guaranteed the dancefloor would be lit. The Dancing with the Stars pro's bridesmaids included fellow dancers Emma Slater, Lindsay Arnold, Brittany Cherry, and Jenna Johnson.
KELLY TRAVIS, CHRISTY HANSEN AND ANDI DORFMAN
The friendships in Bachelor Nation run deep. So deep, in fact, that Nikki Ferrell had three of the former stars in her bridal party! When Ferrell wed Tyler VanLoo in October 2016, fellow reality stars Kelly Travis, Christy Hansen and Andi Dorfman stood by her side as baby pink gown-clad bridesmaids.
There are quite a few perks to having Taylor as your Maid of Honor, as her childhood friend Britany Maack found out. Not only do you get an incredibly heartfelt speech, but you also get an impromptu wedding singer, someone to call in a custom gown for you (they're both in Reem Acra) and someone to bring a Vogue reporter along to document the whole day.
KELLY ROWLAND & LA LA ANTHONY
Not every bridesmaid adores their outfit, but Lena was so sold on the custom sequin J.Crew pencil skirts each girl wore to stand up with pal Audrey Gelman, she Instagrammed a close-up of the details.
Even before she saw designs, Paris had no qualms about being stuck in a bad bridesmaid gown. "I know that Nicky has impeccable taste so the bridesmaid dresses are going to be beautiful," she told People. The end result? A flowy, powder-blue custom Dennis Basso gown that coordinated with mom Kathy's mother of the bride dress.
High praise from the queen of comedy: Amy dubbed her bud's wedding "the best ever" (and happily wore the strapless chiffon number that went with).
She's all smiles here in her cornflower-blue halter, golden stilettos and freshly-blonde bob, but the actress spent much of her sister Kayleen's Muskoka, Canada ceremony wiping away tears with a tissue.
NICKY & PARIS HILTON
You never thought it would be tough to spot the Hilton sisters in a crowd, but in this "ready to partayyy" pink-clad coterie of 'maids, they blend in big time!
A winter wedding in May? The "Fergalicious" singer carried a snowflake-esque bouquet and wore a long black gown when she stood up in the wedding of pals Forman Lauren and Angela Weaver in Boca Raton, Florida, on May 2, 2015.
To stand up next to her little sister Solange, (and the rest of the wedding party) Beyoncé wore a figure-hugging white Torn by Ronny Kobo dress.
BEYONCÉ, SOLANGE & KELLY ROWLAND
Tina Knowles's wedding on a yacht may have had the most star-studded wedding party of all time - and, like her daughters before her, Tina opted for an all-white theme.
Though her own wedding is on the horizon, took some time out for her friend's March 2015 nuptials in New Orleans. The lavender-clad Lady Insta'd a pic from the day, writing, "I'll always be right by her side. #MyBestFriendsWedding," and a day later, joked she was still hungover. "What a time!" she added.
JENNI 'JWOWW' FARLEY
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi's former Jersey Shore party pal stood by her friend's side at her Gatsby-inspired nuptials in New Jersey on Nov. 29. JWoww went glam in a black strapless dress and flapper-inspired headband, and couldn't help but gush about how lovely the bride looked. "Congrats to my BFF @snooki & @JLaValle on their wedding today! She is the most stunning bride," she Tweeted.
SARAH JESSICA PARKER
Months after welcoming son Ace, Jessica slipped back into a bridesmaid dress for publicist Lauren Auslander's 2013 wedding, which was documented by Martha Stewart Weddings. The fall nuptials sent the veteran bridesmaid to Newport, Rhode Island, where she stunned in a midnight blue off-the-shoulder Amsale gown.
Jennifer happily embraced her supporting role as a bridesmaid in her brother Blaine's Kentucky wedding. The Oscar winner was one of 11 bridesmaids sporting ivory J.Crew dresses at the October 2013 affair, which was featured on the cover of Martha Stewart Weddings's Real Weddings special issue.
It's no surprise that Decker stole some of the spotlight in her pal's wedding album - just not with her supermodel looks. "So I've officially ruined my friend's wedding pics," she wrote on Twitter of the silly snapshot.
JESSICA SIMPSON (AGAIN!)
She's a good friend! With days to go before the birth of her second child, Jess slipped into a fitted black bridesmaid dress for interior decorator Kathryn Sykora's June 15, 2013, San Diego wedding to Chris Hetherington, a friend of Simpson's husband Eric Johnson.
Jump - for their love! Selena played the role of beachy bridesmaid well during a friend's 2011 celebration in Mexico.
Her brother's April 2011 nuptials in Scotland marked the first time that Keira served as a bridesmaid - though she graded her performance as "bad. I don't know what happened. Every drink I had went straight down the front [of the dress] and then the food went straight down the front!" she lamented.
In a plunging blush dress with beaded detail at the waist, Kalmost looked like a bride herself on sister Adriana's wedding day in Los Angeles in June 2012.
JESSICA SIMPSON (AGAIN!)
At bestie CaCee Cobb's December 2012 wedding to Donald Faison, an expectant Jessica donned a long black dress and walked down the aisle with actor Zach Braff.
The star was in 7th Heaven serving as an attendant for her onscreen sister Beverley Mitchell, who got married in Ravello, Italy.
When the actress walked down the aisle on behalf of her publicist in Turks and Caicos in April 2013, she donned a dress that most bridesmaids would happily wear: a $350 magenta Monique Lhuillier creation.
JESSICA & ASHLEE SIMPSON
Weeks before welcoming daughter Maxwell in spring 2012, Jessica and her sister served as bridesmaids in friend and former assistant Lauren Zelman's wedding to Breaking In actor Bret Harrison. During the ceremony, at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs, California, Jessica was "a great sport and kept smiling," and Ashlee minded her son, Bronx, who held the role of ring bearer.
"I was so honored to see my best friend marry her soul mate," the bubbly bridesmaid gushed after her pal Amy Colvin's Beverly Hills Hotel wedding in February 2011. Her favorite moment? When she and the rest of the bridal party grabbed the band's microphones and belted "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in front of all 175 guests.
For the 2008 wedding of her then-stylist Estee Stanley, Ashley wore an elegant gown with an origami detail at the bust - then added a spooky mask to dodge the paparazzi.
