12 Celebs Share Their Biggest Beauty Regrets
Like many teenage girls in the '90s, Spelling got a bit too pluck-happy with her tweezers — and now she's lived to regret it. "I shouldn't have plucked my eyebrows so thin in the '90s," the mom of five told E!. "It was a big deal in the '90s! No one ever told me the brow would be back, and now the brow is back. It's something that when you pluck it's really hard to get back." She’s not alone: Spelling admits that her Beverly Hills, 90210 costar Jennie Garth also over-plucked. "Jennie [Garth] and I both look back and we're like, 'Oh my God. We plucked our eyebrows.'"
LENA DUNHAM'S LINED LIPS
The Girls creator technically didn't regret this look — she just called the over-lined nude lip a little "weird." (We don't know, Lena: The '90s-inspired makeup move is certainly a celeb-loved look these days, so you're actually right on trend.) "Dark liner nude lip 4 lyfe," she wrote on her Instagram Stories. "Something weird always goes down when I do my own makeup."
JESSICA ALBA'S PREMATURE INK
If you wouldn't listen to Mom, maybe you will take the Honest Beauty's advice before running out to get inked. "You're never going to be in the same place emotionally and mentally at 18 that you are at 20 or 25 or 30. Something that's meaningful to you when you're younger is not going to be meaningful to you five years later," she confessed to Allure. "I have a few tattoos. I'm not into them now the way I was."
KENDALL JENNER'S OVER-PLUCKED ARCHES
She's been known to bleach her brows for the runway, but before she reached supermodel stardom, Kendall Jenner once over-plucked her arches so much that her older sisters had to step in to assist. "When I was younger, on a totally weird whim, I plucked out all of my eyebrows," the 20-year-old confessed on her website/app. "Thankfully, they grew back, but my sisters flipped OUT. So, yes, they grew back, but it was soooo slowly and in a kind of gross way."
BRITTANY SNOW'S FACIAL WAX
Being a celeb doesn't prevent you from the occasional wayward wax. For Brittany, a pre-premiere brow touch-up quickly went wrong after her aesthetician turned the tune-up into a full-on facial wax: "I once went to a lady for the first time who was going to wax my eyebrows, and she told me I needed to wax my entire face," she previously told PeopleStyle. "I have very, very sensitive skin, and my face did not like being waxed, so I broke out and then had to go to Vegas to promote Hairspray. In pictures I look like I'm terribly sunburned, but really it was a reaction to the wax. Never again."
DIANE KRUGER'S DIY DYE JOB
Dyeing (get it) to touch up her tresses in between salon appointments, Diane Kruger once took hair matters into her own hands with a box of drugstore dye — and the result was a muddy mess, according to the star. "I hadn't colored my hair in six months, and I had been away working for two months," she told Allure. "I'm in New York, and it looked a little dull, so I just thought, I'll go to CVS and buy a gloss. Only it turned my hair a dark mud brown." Unlike the rest of us, who might just buy a hat, Diane just dialed up Serge Normant, who fixed the damage in a jif.
LUCY HALE'S UNGROOMED UNIBROW
The Pretty Little Liars sports some enviable arches now, but, according to the actress, they weren't always that way. "I was always the little girl with a unibrow. And then, I went through a brow evolution of different looks," she told Cosmopolitan. "Now I don't really do anything to them. Because I've had horror stories where either I over-plucked them, or finally they grew back out and I let someone touch them, and it was a disaster… I've finally found the shape that worked for me, so all I do is fill them in a little bit. Long live the big brow!"
CATE BLANCHETT'S BLEACHED BOD
Not everyone can graduate high school without falling victim to a crazy beauty trend -- not even if you're an Oscar-winning actress. For Cate Blanchett, she used her wonder years as an opportunity to try her hand at hair-bleaching, which, let's just say didn't go so well. "Bleaching my arm hair in high school -- it was copper orange in patches and purple in others," Blanchett confessed of her worst hair mistake to Allure. "Never again."
DREW BARRYMORE'S BIG BANGS
Drew Barrymore may have an entire beauty empire at her fingertips, but long before launching her Flower Beauty line, the actress experimented with just about every beauty trend under the sun (brick red lipstick, thy name is '90s Drew). And while she managed to pull off every look with confidence, there's one '90s style that still haunts her to this day: "I'd do the blow dryer and the AquaNet at the same time on my bangs," she told PeopleStyle. "That wasn't so attractive. I looked like Peppermint Patty."
KYLIE JENNER'S OVERPLUMPED PUCKER
Kylie loves her lip injections, but even she has limits. The 19-year-old recently revealed that her biggest mistake in the name of beauty was boosting her lips a little too much. "I definitely made my lips a little too big at one point," the Kylie Cosmetics founder told Allure, adding, "I got excited and felt like I needed to do a lot." Luckily, her big sisters stepped in and offered their expert advice. "[They] were like, 'Kylie, you need to chill'," she said. "And then I had to go back and have it fixed, and it was a crazy process. Thank God I didn't end up on Botched."
JENNIFER ANISTON'S SUN GODDESS GLOW
Queen of Cabo Jennifer Aniston loves being tan. So much so that the last time we spoke with the actress, she told PeopleStyle she was weaning herself off tanning oil and reaching for more SPF. "I gave myself a sun-tanning intervention a few years ago, where I was basically saying, 'Let's just quit while we're ahead,'" she said. "I was not great as a kid with sunscreen. That's one of my big regrets. Now I use Aveeno with SPF 15."
AMY ADAMS' BURN CREAM
The 41-year-old actress, who has one of the most gorgeous porcelain complexions in Hollywood, once experienced a surprising (and stinging) encounter with a bleaching product. "I was getting a facial, and a woman put something on me, and it started to burn," the 41-year-old told Allure. "I was like, 'What is this?' She said, 'Skin lightener.' I was like, 'Get this off immediately!'"
