Cannes 2014 Style Update: The 70+ Crowd Is Killing It
See the septuagenarians who are looking better than stars half their age at Cannes
There is no shortage of gorgeous starlets and handsome young hunks on the Cannes red carpet right now (seriously, did you see Ryan Gosling’s sexy smirk at a photocall yet? Go ahead, check him out — we’ll wait). But for our money, some of the most head-turning stars at the French film festival aren’t supermodels or Twilight heartthrobs, they’re stars in their 70s who look every bit as good as their younger counterparts.
First up is Harrison Ford, 71, who is looking sharp as can be in a classy tux with satin peak lapels, a hand-tied bow tie and glossy patent shoes. We’ve seen enough creative black tie (ahem, every man at the Met Gala) to appreciate when a guy puts himself together nicely, and Ford really delivers. (His Expendables co-stars, from Mel Gibson to Sylvester Stallone, didn’t hold a candle to Ford’s super-tailored tux look.)
Next, Sophia Loren, 79, who was on the red carpet for her film Human Voice. The legendary beauty dazzled in a gold Giorgio Armani creation with a plunging neckline covered in sheer, sparkling netting, sheer, sequin-speckled sleeves and dazzling diamond-and-emerald jewels. And she showed that her legendary curves are still very much part of her look, working her signature sashay down the red carpet.
Finally, Jane Fonda, 76, dazzled at the Grace of Monaco premiere in a glittering red Elie Saab gown. Look familiar? That’s because Angelina Jolie (at 38, literally half Fonda’s age) wore a similar design to the Oscars. Even more proof that Fonda is hotter than half the stars out there? She’s currently way ahead in our Fashion Faceoff with 74% of the vote.
