Perfect Pairs: The Best Earrings and Lipstick Combos for All Your Holiday Events

I love these Lele Sadoughi sculptural flower earrings. They’re so beautiful — and even better, so different. Since they make such a statement I paired them with a soft lip to really let the earrings be the focal point. This Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink was perfect. Although the earrings are super elegant and perfect for the holidays, I plan on wearing them post-parties with jeans, a t-shirt or sweater and heels. They make any basic outfit feel more polished and put together (and not to mention 10 times cooler!)

I liked the idea of something super luxe-looking that would pair best with a really low-key outfit. So this year I'm going for jeans and a tee but adding fun, rich touches like these party-ready BaubleBar tassel earrings, $36 (they come in tons of colors!), and a dark lip stain, like this Cargo gel lip color in "Jamaica."

I have big hair, and usually I don’t care, but one of the times I do is during the holidays when I like to spice up my accessories to complement my holiday cookie party uniform of glimmering lipsticks (this one’s an old favorite from the first Tom Ford Lips & Boys collection, topped off with the shimmery nude in this L’Oréal Paris palette), and equally glitzy sweaters. I need earrings that won’t take my look over the top. Enter: these Swarovski Flame Pierced earrings, which are dainty, detailed and add another dose of subtle sparkle.

Like everything in my wardrobe — accessories and otherwise — I like to keep it simple. That’s why I reached for these fringe gold earrings from The 9th Muse ($110). They’re just enough glitz to add to any all-black ensemble I plan to wear to a holiday party, and when paired with this burgundy red lip courtesy of Chanel’s Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Ultraberry, it’s a look that's party-ready without being over-the-top.

I usually wear an LBD on NYE and count on the accessories to add an extra dose of glam which is why I was immediately drawn to these Lele Sadoughi Abalone Shell Linear Drop Earrings, $145. Plus with a bright lipstick like this Fuchsia Pink shade from Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Pur Couture Lip Color collection my LBD won't feel so boring.

I don't want to make you feel bad for me or anything, but I have very sensitive ears. (Feel bad for me!) So I chose relatively low-key, but still boldish earrings by Chloe + Isabel, $48, and paired them with Clinique's Pop Lip Color & Primer lipstick in Passion Pop, a deep crimson, for added oomph. With a little hope and holiday cheer, at least one of them will still be on by the end of the night!

I love how creative stars have been with their whimsical animal-print clothing, so I wanted to channel the trend with these green Ann Taylor butterfly earrings. And since I never wear statement jewelry too often, I decided if I was going to go big, I'd go bold with my lip color too. I wanted something that was striking but wasn't bright red, so it didn't appear too Christmassy with the green earring. And this purple Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in "Hel's Bells" was the perfect alternative.

With a mostly-black wardrobe, my go-to holiday lip is typically a bright red shade -- a fool-proof way to spruce up any LBD without having to step outside of my closet's comfort zone. These maroon and black jeweled Sequin earrings, $98, are bold enough to make a statement, but still dark enough to work with any outfit, all while pairing perfectly with my go-to red lipstick, Chanel's Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour in Libéré, $37.

I'm not usually much of a statement earring kind of gal, but Elizabeth Cole may have just changed all of that. These bejeweled bird earrings have won my heart and I mixed and matched two pairs (left: Fuscia Parrot $382.50, right: Zazu Parrot $338) for a little extra dose of quirkiness. Since these accessories were so out of my comfort zone, for the lip I went with a tried and true wine-hued favorite, NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen.

I never stray far from my usual pair of simple studs, so going for a bold earring is a bit out of my comfort zone. Still, this glam rose gold Kendra Scott pair made me fall head-over-heels with sporting statement earrings. For my lip, I traded in my usual pinky nude for a classic red in 'Carina's Love' from Charlotte Tilbury. It's the holidays, why not?
