After the Grammy nominee, 29, spoke out last week about designers who were unwilling to dress her for the 2019 Grammys because she is “too big,” the star received an outpouring of support from her fans and fellow celebrities, including Demi Lovato. “I really just wanted to share my story and how frustrated I was. I never expected to receive the amount of love and support that I did,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week’s issue. I’m bringing them all on the red carpet. I want them all with me every step of the way,” she says. “They’ve been there for me through everything, so I want them all there for this. I remember watching as a kid at home with my mom,” she says. “Attending as a nominee is so incredible as you feel like you are being recognized by your peers and the people you respect in the industry.” Cardi B With host Alicia Keys and a slew of female singers nominated for top awards this year, Rexha says she feels honored to be celebrating alongside her peers. “Women being recognized and being given space in this industry is something I feel very strongly about,” says the star, who launched Women in Harmony last year for female writers, producers and artists in the music business. “To see this many women being recognized in one of the top categories makes me very happy. 2019 is the year of the women!”
