SIMPLE CLEANSING FACIAL WIPES
Andrea Lavinthal, Style Director: These super-gentle wipes are the MVP of my medicine cabinet. I use them to remove makeup before washing my face and sometimes in lieu of cleanser and water when I’m too tired to turn on the sink. I’ve even been known to whip one out when I spill coffee on my shirt.
EOS ORGANIC LIP BALM SMOOTH SPHERE
Catherine Dash, Merchandise Editor: This lip balm doesn’t require constant reapplication and it’s made with natural ingredients. Equally of note: The brightly colored egg shape is such a conversation starter – people will ask you about it as soon as you take it out of your bag.
NEUTROGENA OIL-FREE MOISTURE
Alex Apatoff, Associate Editor: I’ve left many beauty products from high school behind (see ya, frosted pink lip crayon), but I’ll never abandon this moisturizer. It’s light but incredibly hydrating, and at the rate I go through a bottle, the price is right.
L'OREAL VOLUMINOUS MILLION LASHES
Zoë Ruderman, Senior Style Editor: I would happily shell out way more than $8.95 for this mascara (which has the best wand and makes my lashes look like I’ve been using Latisse), so the fact that it costs less than a movie ticket is just an added bonus.
CLEAN & CLEAR OIL-ABSORBING SHEETS
Kate Hogan, Style News Editor: I don’t consider my pick a bargain as much as a lifesaver. These little guys have helped me avoid dreaded shiny face on many an occasion, from first dates to job interviews. I order them in bulk online and keep them with me at all times!
CURéL INTENSIVE HEALING CREAM
Jennifer Cress, Contributor: I’ve tried every single lotion in every price range to relieve my super-dry skin in the winter, and this is the best one I’ve found. The texture is really thick, but it goes on super smooth and absorbs quickly. Plus, the jar is huge so it will last all season.
LA PRAIRIE CAVIAR FIRMING FACIAL
Andrea: There are facials and then there’s the heavenly experience known as a La Prairie Caviar Firming Facial. This 90-minute anti-aging treatment uses the brand’s incredible Skin Caviar Luxe Cream (hence the $310 price tag) and leaves skin glowing. If I was heiress-rich, I’d also buy the limited-edition $1,100 Caviar Cristal set, which features a blinged-out case.
DIPTYQUE LARGE INDOOR & OUTDOOR CANDLE
Catherine: I’d gladly take a Diptyque candle in any size, but one that’s nearly eight times bigger than the regular size? Now that’s luxury! The jumbo candle is available in the brand’s four best-selling scents, but my favorite is Baies, an addictive blend of black currant and roses.
BOBBI BROWN MAKEUP BRUSHES
Alex: I don’t consider myself a beauty product snob, but I am tired of my cheapie brushes shedding bristles after two uses. If I don’t get these for Christmas, I’ll make it my New Year’s resolution to invest in the lovely, long-lasting makeup brushes (and vow to clean them more than once every election cycle).
SK-II SIGNS EYE MASK
Kate: I’m turning 30 shortly after the holidays, so preventing any signs of aging is definitely a priority for me. These individual eye masks feel so good when they’re on (even though my boyfriend tells me I look crazy while wearing them!), and my skin feels incredibly smooth for days after I’ve used them.
Zoë: I’ve been very good this year, so I’m hoping Santa (ahem, that means you, parents) picks up the tab on my highlights at the amazing Cutler Salon in N.Y.C. They cost a hefty $190-285 (less for partial highlights), but every colorist there does a phenomenal job – and I always leave feeling like a million bucks.
LA MER THE RADIANCE COLLECTION
Jennifer: Crazy expensive? Yes. Totally worth it? Absolutely. I already have the Crème de la Mer, but it’s running low. Plus it looks so lonely in my medicine cabinet and it could use a few La Mer friends (like the Radiant Serum and the Eye Balm Intense that come in the kit along with the moisturizer).
