JoJo Fletcher found her unicorn — and he came with a big diamond ring. The Bachelorette star’s engagement to Jordan Rodgers was filled with tears, “I love yous” and the perfect beach backdrop. But while her custom 3-carat Neil Lane stunner sparkled more than the sea, we couldn’t help but wonder about the ring that got away. Luckily, we got the scoop from Neil himself.

Lane tells PeopleStyle that the rock runner-up Robby Hayes chose for JoJo — a centrally set round brilliant cut diamond with two tapered baguette diamonds on the side, surrounded by 164 smaller diamonds at a total weight 3.75 carats — was a completely different design from Jordan’s ring. (Get all the details on that one here.)

“It’s totally opposite from the simplicity of the other one,” Lane reveals. “This one is totally decorated, It was complicated to make. There’s a lot happening there. It’s really beautiful and really dynamic.”

Lane says the ring Robby chose reflected how he viewed her.

“What’s great about the story, is they both saw JoJo in very different ways. Robby loved all the detail on his ring,” he explains. “Robby saw all the multi facets to JoJo’s personality and thought this ring would be phenomenal because it had so much detail and so much going on. “

While picking out his ring, however, Lane says Robby was visibly more nervous.

“They were both different nervous, but in different ways.  Jordan was more confident. He knew it was him, but he was nervous about which ring to choose. Robby was nervous about both. About the ring and if it was him.”

So what happens to the reject ring?

“Some go to reject ring heave,” Lane quips, adding, ” I rework them. I talk to them. ‘Who would you like to be next? Would you like to continue on as your are? Would you like to change?’ I dissemble them. I change the style. I’m always creating. I might fill in the baguettes and put all round diamonds there. It’s a very creative process for me and I don’t plan it. There is a DNA to my rings — there is vintage vibe with a very contemporary feel. “

Will the ring be “reworked” for Bachelor in Paradise? Probably not, but Lane also promised us some more exciting diamonds on this season of BIP. And we’re ready for ’em.
