Amber Riley may sport some serious stage makeup when filming Glee, but in her free time, the star keeps her beauty routine pretty low key. “I personally don’t like to wear makeup; if I don’t have to, I won’t,” Riley tells PEOPLE. But there are still certain must-haves she carries with her at all times. “I don’t leave the house without my menthol lip balm from Bath & Body Works,” she says. “I have really dry lips because they’re so big.” Another favorite? “I have to say my CoverGirl bronzer … because if you aren’t wearing a lot of makeup, you can use the bronzer to kind of highlight and contour and it gives you this nice glow.” Now a bona fide star, Riley is confident in her own skin — but that wasn’t always the case. Bullied when she was younger, she’s using her experiences in her new role with Secret’s Mean Stinks anti-bullying campaign, participating in Facebook question and answer sessions with young women, and starring in advertisements that help raise money for the PACER National Bulling Prevention Center. Now a role model herself, Riley says she has her own Hollywood idols, too. “I admire Queen Latifah for her confidence. I don’t think that she’s the norm of what you see on the red carpet in Hollywood and she has accomplished so many things,” she says. “Everything I want to do, she has done: she’s been in television, she’s been a producer and she’s conquered the music world. She’s so gorgeous and she just exemplifies confidence to me.” For more information on the Mean Stinks campaign, visit Facebook. –Kim Peiffer
