The Olympic gold medalist shared her style essentials and her favorite Boston shopping spot
Now that Aly Raisman is done dominating in Rio (she brought home one gold and two silver medals), she’s enjoying post-Olympics stardom, hanging out with celebs like Usher, Zac Efron and even agreeing to a date with Raiders tight end Colton Underwood. What’s next? Hopefully a shopping date with Taylor Swift.
After the Final Five crushed the team competition and came away with gold, Swift posted a big congrats to the girls on Twitter.
Raisman came right back and responded to the “22” singer suggesting the two should hit the streets in her hometown of Boston for a shopping spree once she returned from Rio.
But where’s the spot Raisman would love to take one of her favorite singers? “I would say in Boston on Newbury Street, there’s a lot of good shopping,” she told PeopleStyle Wednesday at an event for Aéropostale’s Seriously Stretchy Denim line, of which she’s the face.
And the one thing she can’t wait to splurge on to reward herself for Olympic dominance? “I love ankle booties and tote bags!”
The six-time Olympic medalist could probably give Swift a run for her money when it comes to style.
Raisman says she would love to start her own fashion line one day inspired by her gymnastics career with a mixture of athletic and everyday apparel.
“I love fashion and designing stuff. I would love to get into workout clothes,” she said. “I work a lot with the younger generation of gymnasts, so I know a lot of stuff that they like. It would be fun to design clothes for them.”
Her ideal line would also pull inspiration from her day-to-day personal style — outside the gym.
“I like jeans you can wear in the day. Right now I’m wearing [these] with flats, but then for dinner you can go and wear them with heels, so it’s kind of like the daytime to nighttime sort of feel,” she said.
Raisman’s no stranger to the design world, as the Olympian already has her own leotard line with GK Elite and sock line with Feat Socks. (We’re loving these patriotic ones she made in honor of the Olympics!)
On the beauty side, she’s leaving her famous competition top-knot bun behind (for now) and playing around with wearing her hair down.
“I like messy, go-with-the-flow [style], so that’s how I like my hair to be too,” she said.
“If I get out of the shower and [my hair] is a little frizzy, I will use the oil. It’s really good because even though it’s an oil, it doesn’t make your hair greasy for the rest of the day,” she said. “Then I just flip my hair and put the [dry shampoo] in. It’s awesome.”
