Alicia Vikander Channels Belle from Beauty & the Beast on the Oscars Red Carpet
The actress channeled the Disney princess at the 2016 Oscars.
This is the first year Alicia Vikander has been nominated for an Oscar, and after wearing a string of impressive dresses at all the award showsleading up to this big night, the pressure for her to show up in a gown that blew all the rest of her contemporary cool looks out of the water was beyond high. But the actress did not disappoint, arriving in a look highly reminiscent of one of our favorite Disney princesses.

The Best Supporting Actress nominee wore a custom Louis Vuitton dress she described as “dusty yellow” covered in abstract silver sequin embellishment with a full skirt that ended just above her ankles in a gathered hem and accessorized with diamond latticework earrings. Alicia kept her makeup simple and neutral toned, pulling her hair up into a Belle-approved wavy, half-up bun.

And it turns out the similarities between Vikander and the princess are no accident, she told People’s red carpet livestream that “[Louis Vuitton] made that dress for her because as a little girl she always wanted to be Belle from Beauty in the Beast.” And the fashion house perfectly channeled the cartoon character’s vibe. Unfortunately, that also means Michael Fassbender’s going to have to start cultivating some serious facial hair if he wants to coordinate with his S.O.’s red carpet look.
What do you think of Alicia Vikander’s dress? Do you like her half-up bun? Do you think she looks like Belle?
