7 Style Trends Spotted on the 2013 Red Carpet
BRIGHT, BOLD EARRINGS
We bet it’s hard for stars to turn down diamonds when they’re standing in front of all those cases of carats, but nothing gets our hearts racing faster than unexpected, candy-colored gemstones. (in Jennifer Meyer), Viola Davis (wearing coral Cathy Waterman) and Morena Baccarin (in Jacob & Co. jade drops) all dazzle in their brilliant baubles.
STRAPLESS DRESSES WITH CHOKERS
Like polished waves look even lovelier with red lips, a strapless gown begs for a sparkly diamond choker. Helen Hunt (in a Neil Lane design), (in Chopard diamonds) and Jessica Chastain (wearing Harry Winston) all went for the classic pairing and earned a spot on our best dressed list.
UP, UP, UPDOS
Is there a special award category for most impressive use of hair spray? If so, we think that the sky-high styles seen on Jessica Paré, and January Jones are in a neck-and-neck race for the statue. (Another deadlocked race: best sideswept waves.)
We were getting tired of Eddie Redmayne (wearing a BOSS Black velvet tux) being the only male star to bring it on the red carpet lately, so imagine our delight to see , Jim Parsons (wearing John Varvatos) and Nolan Gould giving him a run for his money this time around in snazzy suits of their own.
Another major relief: The sheer skirts trend seems to have abated a bit in favor of the sheer neckline, as spotted on (in Giambattista Valli Couture), (wearing Vivienne Westwood Couture) and Ellie Kemper (in seafoam Reem Acra).
There was a ton of navy and even more black, but Jane Krakowski, Viola Davis (in Monique Lhuillier) and Alfre Woodard ditched those somber tones in favor of toothache-sweet candy-color designs.
