5 Things You Didn't See at Kanye West's Yeezy Season 4 Fashion Show
New York Fashion Week just got Yeezy-fied.
Among them were his wife Kim Kardashian West and his sisters-in-law Kendall and Kylie Jenner, all decked out in monochromatic staples from his new line. And though fans were given a front row seat via a live stream of the event, PEOPLE was there to capture some colorful behind the scenes moments that might not have made the cut.
Here are a five things you had to be there to see:
1. The show doubled as a high end scavenger hunt.
With the location and details shrouded in secrecy until just hours before the reported 3pm start time, attendees stepped off of unmarked charter buses that had transported them to the island, looking bewildered and eager.
2. For many, getting inside took effort.
A number of fans and fashionistas were sad to learn their names weren’t on the heavily guarded guest list, forcing them to wait for a well-connected passerby to help score them the golden ticket. They found good company with the dozens of tourists and Roosevelt Island locals who picked the wrong day to try for a leisurely stroll through the park.
3. The beautiful day proved too hot to handle for some of the models.
Just before the show began, one model who’d been standing still in the sun alongside her poised peers, swayed and teetered over. She immediately received help from a few others and show runners supplied her with water but just before things officially kicked off she made her way to the sidelines for much-needed r&r.
4. A chopper provided dramatic effect overhead.
As the music intensified throughout the show, so did the sound of an approaching black helicopter that ended up circling right above the show. While the featured models – including Teyana Taylor the buzzed about star of West’s “F.A.D.E.” video and Sofia Richie, Justin Bieber‘s new love – made their final lap, some wondered if West himself was inside the helicopter planning an action-film like ending to the relatively tame show.
5. The Kardashians kept it pretty low-key.
Though they have been known for stealing the show, Kim, Kendall and Kylie were happy to fade into the ambiance and kept a low profile throughout, cheering for West as the rapper/designer took his celebratory lap at the show’s end. That’s not to say they didn’t have a blast. The three took to social media with all of that action.
