Just hours before facing off with teammate and fellow gold medalist Laurie Hernandez in the balance beam event, Simone Biles shared a sweet throwback photo of the pair from a time when the Olympics were just a dream.
“Funny thing is back then we never thought we would be competing at the Olympics,” the 19-year-old captioned the photo. “Crazy how things happen, so excited to be competing in Beam Finals today with this girl love you so much! DREAM BIG GIRLIES”

Biles earned a bronze medal in the event after taking a tumble on the balance beam, while Hernandez scored a silver behind Sanne Wevers from the Netherlands who earned gold.
