Noureen DeWulf's Olympics Blog: Braving My First All-American Russian Hot Dog
The Anger Management actress also finds a Sochi fan while hanging out with other Olympic wives
Anger Management star Noureen DeWulf is in Sochi for the Winter Olympics. As she cheers on her husband, Team USA hockey goalie Ryan Miller, Noureen is blogging for PEOPLE. You can also follow her on Twitter and Instagram.
I went into the Olympic park to watch Team USA men’s hockey team practice. The village was very empty when I first arrived. There was none of the usual bustle of the Olympics. It felt like mostly Russians and the families of the visiting players.
The park is huge and partly unfinished with a big scary-looking purple roller coaster that does not run in the middle. I didn’t ride any of the amusement park rides, would you have?
I was chased down by a Russian employee of the park who was yelling, “You, in TV serial!”! It made me laugh and we took a picture together. I had no choice but to eat lunch in the park, a huge hot dog, which they said was beef.
I’ve also been hanging out with the other wives and girlfriends (we call ourselves the cheerleaders). We hung off the Olympic Rings and chilled out at the “USA house,” which provides American athletes with food and a place to relax.
I’ve also gotten into new hobby, the Olympic pastime of trading pins that you acquire from different people. Apparently the “sponsor” pins like an NBC pin has more value than other pins. I’m still on the lookout for one of those. I’ve never collected anything before. Do you collect anything?
After practice, I had a chance to meet up with Ryan. We had dinner together and took a photo in front of the Olympic torch, which burns loudly throughout the day and night.
