The popular NASCAR driver finally popped the question to his girlfriend of six years
At long last, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is ready to bid his bachelor days adieu.
The popular NASCAR racer proposed to longtime girlfriend Amy Reimann while on vacation in Germany, the pair confirmed on social media Wednesday.
“I’m completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much @DaleJr,” Reimann posted on Twitter, alongside a glowing photo of the couple in what appears to be a church. A sizable ring was clearly visible on her left ring finger.
Earnhardt Jr., 40, quickly shared her post on his Twitter page, prefacing it with this sweet message: “Looking forward to the rest of my life with this amazing girl.”
The engagement news is cause for celebration for the decorated professional driver’s many fans, who have been goading him to get down on one knee for years. The pair have been dating since 2009.
“The people we interact with on Twitter are, ‘When are you going to do it? Pop the question already,’ ” Earnhardt said in February, per USA Today. “She gets it more than I do: people telling her all the time I need to put a ring on it. When I turned 40, it really ramped up. People are like, ‘Man, your time is running out. Amy is a good girl, what are you waiting for?’ ”
It appears Earnhardt’s loved ones are eager to welcome her into their racing family.
“Adding another sis-in-law to the family! Happy for my brother and his future bride! Herzlichen Gl ckwunsch!” Tweeted Dale’s sister, Kelley Earnhardt, in a message Reimann re-Tweeted on her own Twitter page.
No word on wedding plans just yet, but it appears the couple are basking in their engagement glow.
“Oh just strolling along with my fiancé,” Reimann Tweeted Wednesday afternoon while sharing a photo of the pair walking hand-in-hand in Germany.
